still good at 5k, only launched my car 1 time so far lol

Mine is still fine at 14k miles, daily driven. Drag Racing this weekend see how she holds up.

ehh i got 11K out of mine.. After i had some crap done to it custom tuned and my launch limiter raised i was unable to get my newlaunch down on the first try.. Thats all it took!!!! 1 very bad launch and i glazed her... Drove it for about a month or 2 very easy but its not driveable now.. No better reason for a twin disc!!

No it wasnt my driving, ive owned 3 awd cars now and this was the first clutch i ever replaced
(well saying it wasnt my driving would be silly.. It was, it was my launching)

5K, and it feels like new. No launches but some aggressive driving.

I have to agree with this. On my 03 VIII, I put over 50k miles and 50 launches on my stock clutch before it finally gave out and this was with enough power to run low 12s to high 11s.

I had a similar problem. the clutch would either catch high or low. I had to change a part (not sure about the english name - translates to something like clutch center system) that was supposed to align the clutch engagement point. solved my problem

13k miles and no problems yet, daily driving and the ocassional autox (no launching)

7500 miles and no problems. Like new (only 1 launch- out of curiousity)

yes there is! the rivvets holding the straps on the pressure plate are WAYYY too long. when the clutch disc reaches a certain thickeness, the rivvets start to touch the flywheel, not allowing the pressure plate to move forward on the disc anymore. if you look at the stock pressure plate and any aftermarket evo clutch, you will see the difference in the length of the rivvets.
thats one of the main reasons why our clutch "all of a sundden" start slipping.

WTF? The guy asks the question

And almost all of the responses are from people who have "Evo 8" for the car they drive... so either you haven't updated your profile, forgot what car you drive, or aren't answering this guys question because you drive an 8...

Ummm ok???

The reason the clutch starts slippin is because the flywheel is NOT good a gettin rid of heat and it store the heat, which makes it easy to glaze the clutch and thats why it starts slipping.

If there was really something wrong, people wouldnt make it to 50K mile with 50 launches.

this is the explaination provided by ACTman and clutch masters inc., which is a local shop. exedy sends them their stage 1 pressure plates so they can have the rivvets grinded down.

and since when is 50k an acceptable time for clutches to wear out. The life of sti clutches are about 75k.
