wheel hop (front) in heavy traffic - will replacing the motor mounts solve this?
The problem I am having is wheel hop in traffic in first gear. I don't have any problems shifting.
When I feather the clutch in heavy traffic, I get front wheel hop. This usually only happens when I have to move the car 1-2 meters forward with light trottle application)
This does not happen when I let the clutch out very slowly (not even pushing on the gas padel) to get the car rolling or when I get going at a normal pace. I drive stick for almost 20 years and I never noticed this in any of my other cars (including an awd s4)
Not sure if the motor mount will solve the problem??? what do you guys think?

wow two quick replies with the same conclusion. I hope its not my clutch
how do I check if my clutch has glazing/warping?
the car has only 8k miles and the clutch never slips or makes noises...

Edit* kind of feels like wheel hope but isn't...sounds all to familiar.
Usually you wont get wheel hope on the street even if you launch.

btw, are you using the AMS Rear Trailing Arm Delrin Bushings and if so, are they noisy?
I thought about getting these along with rear bump steer, but I want to keep the car as comfortable as possible for everyday driving. I was thinking about just getting an agressive alignment done to slightly improve front grip...
edit: yes not sure if the wheels are hopping but the front of the car shakes... sure feels like wheel hop

Wheel hop on an AWD + low speed = I very much doubt it. It is most likely clutch chatter. Wheel hop only occurs when your tires are at the limits of their grip and the traction breaks for a bit causing it to hop. Usually only happens for FWD if they have a lot of slop in the suspension and are launching hard. I wouldn't worry about the chatter too much. Its not the best thing to have, but my bro's Mini has had chatter for over 50k miles (car has 93k) and the clutch is still fine. IMHO you should only start worrying when your clutch starts slipping on load.

I agree with the clutch chatter. Give it more gas and see if that helps. These awd can be tricky to drive even if you have driven stick for 20 years. It just takes some getting used to.
