Insure a 2nd car with liability only as your primary vehicle and the Evo 2nd/pleasure use car only. I t doesnt make sense but the total premium will drop when you insure 2 cars.

BTW you dont even have to own the other car.

i just switched from State Farm to Progressive, about 2 weeks ago, because they were going to try and start charging me 415 a month. i told them to cancel it and i now pay 208 a month for the same coverage through progressive. that is for 2 vehicles, w/ full coverage

600/month? That's more I pay for insurance/carpayment and a pack of bubble gum. How could it possibly even be that high?

State farm is a POS they just start raising the rates on me randomly...Its lately that I have started to pay attention more closely to my rates. When I went in with the evo they girl told me around $540.00 per month and now im over $600 in just 3 months. I havent gotten a ticket or anything and its just going up for no reason. I have tried calling them but I Guess i just have to go in person and talk to them...Just got off the phone with allstate and they gave me a little better quote for somewhere around $400 per month. I really love the car though and it will be hard to sell it thats why im searching for new insurance like a mad man...But thanks for all the help!

I'm starting to agree ^ ^ State farm has raised my rates twice in the past year for no apparent reason. I filed my first claim on the EVO (had it since 03) and they raped me big time.

My State Farm agent told me that a lot of insurance companies now are directly charging under 25 drivers for the costs to insure them, rather than spreading that extra cost to all their policy holders. I got a nice little reduction in my latest premium for it too, so that's nice.

I'm 35 by the way, $180/month to fully insure my Evo and my wife's car, and that's with 150/300k coverage.

I had people tell me other wise, their claims went very smoothly.

But also alot of horror stories, well I got quoted $1200 less a year from esurance, have it for 7 months now and still good.

Jesus...you just know it bad when you pay so much for insurance that people don't actually believe you. Definitely look for something better and ask the agents about all their discounts and criteria for the discounts.

I guess worse comes to worse you could always see about getting married...but that would probably cost more in the end...

For what it's worth, here in Cali the evo8 is the same cost as is a 2003 porsche 911 turbo. They are in the same bracket to insure. As for California, our driving records clear every 3 years from the date of incident, or citiation. Insurance groups ask for a five year history, even though they can only pay attention to the last 3 years. Check with your DMV and find out. Also the neighboring state DMV's may not be "linked" to your state. If they are not, find a freind out of state, reg the car there, and get a liscense from there. After that you will have a spotless record. My driving record almost disqualified me from being hired with the P.D. out here. I've been there, I know it sucks...!
