Need Help finding lower insurance rate...

Hey guys I have been searching for new insurance for a few months now and have had no luck finding some affordable insurance. I have a pretty crappy driving record which includes 2 at fault accidents. I am 20 years old and am a student with a 3.4gpa so at least I qualify for the good student discount. I am paying over $600 per month for my insurance with state farm. I can afford it but its honestly killing me, I could be saving all of that extra money for an apartment or something. I know my driving record and age cause my insurance to be so high but if theres any insurance companies/ suggestions you guys can give me I would really appreciate it. I have filled out at least 15 online quotes with different companies and the cheapest im getting is $570 per month from allstate with a 1k down payment...Thanks again guys and any help would be appreciated.

The other option of course is to drive something else.... $600 a month is a heck of a lot of money! That's $425 more than what I pay... which is a motorcycle payment + insurance!

Try Progressive. You'll have to talk to an agent, you can't get a quote yourself online or anything, but they absolutely killed all the other quotes I was getting.

is it really worth $600/mo in insurance alone? is there any possible way you can insure it under another family member (your mother or father)?

Yea I tried progressive and spoke to one of those drive agents and there quote was above $600 per month also...And honestly I am beginning to think its not worth it paying all this insurance, its just way too much. As far as putting it under my moms name, I think thats the way I have it now...LIke on my insurace card it says her name and my step dads name...I am in the system though as the primary driver...How would I go about changing that and what would happen in case I were to get in an accident of some sort with my mom being listed as the primary driver?

You're probably screwed if you've tried all those places.

Lesson to be learned: Learn2Drive.

if you're paying $7000/year insurance on a $30k car you need to sell it and buy something cheaper to insure. No offense, but for you an Evo makes absolutely no financial sense and you're throwing money away. Buy a civic and put that money in the bank for a house.

yea, I guess they dont like your age and driving record. I only pay $900 a year after switching to progressive. I used to pay like $1700 a year with Metlife so I would think Progressive is one of the lowest. If they quote you that high, you will most likely find high rates like that from all the other companies.

Yep, I pay right around $900/year as well with Progressive.

(For Comparison, my SE-R with Nationwide is/was $840/year. <3 Progressive.)

damn, $600/month. that's more than my car payment. i used to have a bad record when i was a young punk. i've been in the clear for the last 5 years, "knock on wood". i'm paying $1,200/year with progressive right now. you should drive an econo box until you're 25 and keep out off trouble. 25 is the next drop off point, or you can get marry or have a kids. i think you can get discount for those also.

Call 5 or 10 different independent insurance agents. They handle more than just one company so you're actually getting many quotes from each phone call.

I've been insured by probably 20+ different companies during my life and only 3 times were any of the big ones the best deal.

If you can't find anything a whole lot cheaper I'd say it's time to get out of the fastlane for awhile. Drive a minivan.

simple answer. Get a different car.
With that kind of insurance rate, you are going to hate your car more and more as time goes.
My suggestion is to ...get your priorities right.

Then, once your records improve, look into a evo.

A $30k car is not worth an insurance payments that high...of course this is my opinion.
