Help Needed, Electical Mess

So not to brag or anything, but my evo is the most cursed evo ever made. Last night i had to replace my axle seal because my transmission was leaking. Got the leak fixed and crank up the car, cranks fine, twice.

I turn it off, bleed my brakes, put the tire back on, lower the car, go to crank it, nothing. So i try and push start it, cranks once, and when i try to drive it, the gauges go out and the car dies. I try to push start it 9 more times to no avail. So i get my neighbors jumper cables. Jump it, cranks right up, and i go to drive it around to charge the battery. Make it about 200 yards, and then my gauges fall and dim and car dies. Get another jump, and w/ the HIDs on the car won't stay running, barely runs w/ them off, just long enough to get back to my apartment.

So today i let my battery charge for 30 min, pull the cables off and 4 min later the car dies. All my accesories work, radio, dome light is bright, can roll windows up and down, but turn the key, and nothing, not even the starter, just a click.

I'm pretty sure its not my battery, don't think it should be the alternator... any suggestions? main relay? when i turn the lights on and off, there's a clicking from behind the dash... sounds like a relay... I'm just utterly stumped.

Get your battery tested. If you can keep the car running long enough put a multimeter across the battery and see if you are getting more then 12V, should be upwards of 14.4. If not your alt might be fried.

Fun part is, if your battery is crap for long enough it can trash your alternator.

Good luck

your car will run with a bad battery if you start it
sounds like a alternator. which may have damaged the battery

there may be a fuse or fusible link somewhere as well.
definitely a problem with the alternator or wiring for it.

if the battery is shot the alternator will not give enough juice to the computer for the car will run.. failsafe for causing more probs from low voltage.. batteries do just die.. alternators go for no reason.. if the alt and batt are good, and the fuse is good, either you have a broken wire somewhere or the fusible link in the alt wire or the one on the battery are blown.. this is really all it can be... even a loose cable could cause this...

thing is... i didn't touch any wiring... and i think my battery is holding a charge, cause i can run everything... the dome light doesn't' even dim when i put two windows up at the same time... it just won't turn the starter, even a little. How can my car have enough power to run the radio, windows, horn, but not even turn the starter at all... have even a slow dying whine.

You have a shizzy battery. It may only be three months old, but it sounds like that baby is DEAD. I'm sure after you get the battery tested you'll see it's dead.

i know its been stated before but... Its your alternator. Its either that or your have a bad ground. Take a multimeter and check the voltage output off the battery when you get it running. You should see at least 13.8 Volts.

Trying to fix a car on the internet is like asking Helen Keller to look at something!....lol

First things first.....have the battery load tested. Although your lights gauges all come on, under load the battery may fail. Batteries are no joke! They can blow up in your face and cause nasty burns or even kill you! I had a friend that pulled over to help a lady. She said the car was dead. So he said to pop the hood, she did, he said try to start it.....boom! Exploded in his face killing him instantly! Be careful! Batteries can short circuit. Have it tested for load if the battery specs out, try the charging system.
Cover the basics and keep it simple.

Test everything before you start to assume things... There is no reason to guess that your alternator is bad unless you have tested it first.

With the additude you have i wonder why you have had such bad luck with the car. I have tried to help... And so have others by the looks of it. If you dont check your alternator or battery for that matter then there is no reason for you to ask for anymore help.

If you have a cheap multimeter from radio shack or whatever, toss it into DC mode and see what the neg and pos terminals of the battery say when the car is running.

It should be above 12 volts. If not, it points to your alternator.
Otherwise, your battery.
