Car made a weird noise when I got on it today ..

It's an 03, just incase it makes a difference.

Anyway, it was the second time I actually 'got on it' and two things, it feels like it has no power around 5k rpms, and around those rpms, it was definetly breaking up ... sounded like extreme detonation, but the car is 100% stock

any ideas what it could be?

could be bad plugs.if the hose is popped off the evo would be really running like crap and barely go 5mph.

thats kinda big still.if youre planning on going with higher boost you would want to have a closer gap for a more solid spark.but since youre stock it might be fine for now.

Gap the plugs at .28 or just get some NGK iridiums at the 7 heat range and stick them in.

Yep, I had the intake hose pop off my throttle body and the car just flat-out died. I imagine any hose would act the same.

Read your owners manual...... You need to gap the plugs closer than what you have them at... No matter if your running NGK 7's or 8's..... If not you will blow the spark out and it will run like crap.
