Reflashes and stealerships?

Should it be ok to bring a warrantied evo in for an oil change if the ecu is reflashed? Would there be an reason for them to check and see?

It depends on the dealership whether they are really **** or not. Check the blacklisted dealers list and see if urs is on there.

Basically they have no reason to check unless you have a CEL or something.

I wouldn't go to the Dealer for an Oilchang in my Life. They Almost never change the Filter, and Most Dealer "Techs" (which i us Ohh soo Lightly) are soo dumb and ignorant they just put regular non Synthetic 10w30 in. Dealers als rip you off, even if you give them the oil chances are they don't use you oil anyway they just dump it into the 400 gallon drum and use it with the oil they do on all the cars, plus they don't look the car over and they "test Drive it" where they probaly will have absolutely no self control and Be beating the Crap out of you vehicle. Don't go to the Dealer.

Agree! These cars are one of the easiest to change oil and filter. Just document and save receipts for future warrenty work.

Well thanks for the misinformation! I bring my own oil and filter and they charge me $15 for the labor.

Hey buddy why don't you stop jacking the thread! I've been working on cars since you were sucking on your moms ****. I work 12 hours a day and it's just a convenience. I didn't ask you whether I should change it my self or bring it to the dealer. I asked if there was any reason for them to check the ecu for a flash if I had them change the oil.

of corse thewy only charge you 15 bucks, thats cause they keep your filter. Beleive me Dealers are Retarts. My father owns a Repair shop (precision Auto) And we let customers watch use (from a sligth distance for their own saftey). I know Dealers never change filter cause I mark My filters. I sent my freinds Evo to teh Dealer for an oil change Cause we wanted to catch them in the Act, I even put an Aftermarket filter on. It was a Fram, I wrote the Date on the filter and we told them to chang the oil and filter, We said use mobil one. They Charged him 52.50 for the oil change. I went an Checked the Filter no change the Same Bright ORange filter was there. Although I can't backup my non synthetic oil therory, I did ask for the Containers and they said they Threw them out. (beleiveable but I am skeptical) . Dealer= Grease monkeys in uniform.

They won't waste their time looking to see if you have a flash when you go in for an oil change.

Yeah, I used to use the quick change places, but after having one strip the threads on my oil pan and denying responsibility, I always do my own. That way I can know a bone dry oil filter isn't being put on and I'm geting the oil I paid for. Besides, doing it myself is faster. It dawned on me one time that how much of a "convenience" is it when I can do it myself in 15 minutes versus spending at least half an hour waiting for someone else? Since these cars have a reputation for getting flashed, I wouldn't be suprised if some dealers routinely check them ( all you need to do is look at boost levels to know if something isn't right).

from what I read from this forum, there isn't a way that dealership can know that you ecu was reflashed. They can't go into your ecu without your permission, i don't think.

Uh... what would make you think that. There's no reason they can't look if they want to.

99% chance that they won't, because it's a waste of time for an oil change, but it's possible.
