Evo 9 Oil Pressure
Need a little help please, would all evo 9 owners with oil pressure guage installed on cars with no mods that would change oil psessure please let me know what their pressure is at idle after car has been driven for at least 20 min. Trying to determine if i have a problem as mine is between 8-10 psi ideling at 850-900 rpm. Workshop manual says 29 kilo pascals ( 4.2 psi ) or higher is standard value, seems a little low to me. What does everyone think about this ?.

Change your oil and send a sample to http://www.blackstone-labs.com/ What weight oil are you using? Switch to a thicker oil 15w50 mobil 1. Report back.

Do i have anything to worry about, should jap model be any different from US model in terms of oil pressure, temp here is about the same as florida. EVO owners in the UK say they are getting 29 psi at idle can it vary so much from car to car ?.

This pressure is only at idle, car has 60 psi at 2300 rpm and under boost over 90 psi.

Is this reading taken with car just idleing from a cold start up or is it taken after car has been driven under boost for 20 min or more.

Dude, relax and re-read his post. He said 10 psi at idle when warm. That's totally normal. Do a search, report back.

Oil pressure taken from bung just above oil filter.

Ok here is a Brain Teaser, do you have an aftermarket oil filter, or is it OEM?
Try putting an OEM oil filter on see if that makes a difference, 3000GTs had this low or high oil pressure alot from the wrong filter be on, believe it or not.

A few years ago the DSM fad was light oil for more horsepower. So, people were running 0W-30 or 5W-30 synthetic. I had one guy write me saying he had zero oil pressure at idle with this oil so he considered this normal. Hey, if it is synthetic oil you don't need oil pressure - right? Many of those cars survived a long time on this oil diet. So, I'm guessing 4.2 psi at idle will do okay.
