He then said I can either go to jail for refusing a order or pop my hood. So I pop my hood and he gives me a fix it ticket for my stock exhaust.

Well today I went down to the CHP office to get it signed off and the officer looked at my muffler and said he wont sign it off cuz it's not stock! I was like WTF! I told him it was stock and he said cars dont come with chrome mufflers like that. I told him 5 times thats the way it comes from the factory. He said "look how big that muffler tip is. That isnt a factory muffler. Put the stock muffler back on and then come back." By that time I was so pissed I said fine and drove 20 miles to the other CHP office to see if thet would sign it off. This officer was cool and signed it off for me. What's wrong with some of these cops, they're douchebags!
I was in the same situation in Cali earlier this year

The cop caught me on the side of the road trying to tune someone's evo 8 with a few minor mods.

He called for back up and then asked me "If I would give him permission to look under the hood?"

I said I am not sure how to answer that question without the chance to talk with a lawyer

He then said if I dont decide to let him look under the hood he would be arresting me for "obstruction of justice'

Given those options - i elected to pop my customer's hood and he then took a lot of digital photos of the aftermarket exhuast header (DC) and then gave me a few tickets for equipment violations which cost me nearly $400

All I can say is everyone whould join with SEMA's drivng force orgaization and help lobby various state legislatures

Everytime I drive my Evo, I feel like I could get jailed and fac`e the death penalty - the law sucks

PS - I just was wondering to myself outloud how all those harley guys can get away with such loud exhuasts whille the cops harras us ?

The cop whop nailed me responded to my asking him how he felt about his huge bust . . . . .

"I'll do what ever it takes to get you punk street racers off the road"

When i pointed out to him that I never race on the street and was parked in broad day light when he stopped me . . .

he said

"A car like this has only one purpose"

Seriously agree with the HARLY quote...man that is annoying.

I love the statement he made: "I'll do what ever it takes to get you punk street racers off the road"

Should have asked him what he drives... probably a station wagon...to carry his SPAWN OF SATAN!!!

What can we collectively do as a group ? I mean as a whole in society,
we are a minority. If there is an effective and intelligent legislative initiative
lobbying strategy through SEMA ... What can " We " do ?

I hated to do it ... but ever since I remove the wing spoiler ... life is good.

That is true today... Believe me back in the 60's ... Harley guys were

Tis because of all the street racers. Too many a-holes killing people while racing in the street. You reap what you sow. And the actions of a few have spoiled it for the rest.

ok i live in texas but my car is licensed in colorado. not that that matters but my question is what should i do if i get pulled over for having a loud exhaust? i have the buschur 3"tbe with test pipe and a bullet muffler. so yes its loud. am i just screwed and have to take the ticket or is there a way out of it? is it illegal to have new intake. becuase the cop will see it if he looks in my engine bay?

I don't know about all the cases, but most of these alleged "street racing" deaths and crashes and injuries seem to be 16-18 year old kids racing their dodge stratuses and ford tempos and totalling them. Around here I can't remember the last time an actual quick car was involved in a "street racing" death.
