Evo to RX7
#79
i was totally into the rx7 swap like 3 years ago... but now things have gotten a LOT better, more people are doing them there's more support and there's ls2 engines too.
the problem always was however, the cooling solutions.
they have a few radiator solutions from different fabbers. ftr and hinson are the main two with some custom sized ones from some race core manufacturers. but in the end it seems there's just not enough room to shove a big enough radiator for you to run both the ac and a stop and go driver. the condenser obviously preheats the air to the radiator and you need to find a gargantuan fan that can flow enough at low speed and also a shrough that will flow enough at high speed (when fan is off).
all this makes me just wanna get a c6 vette in like 4 years.

The LS1/RX7 really does sound like an excellent combination (although a bit pricey). It might not be as cool sounding as the rotary but with the reliable WIDE powerband a V8 provides, and the light weight the RX-7 chassis provides, it sounds like a car that could excel in every level of motorsport (autox, road racing, time attack, drifting, drag, maybe not rally ). I say if you have the ***** (and deep pockets) then go for it! I would like to thank everyone who re-educated me about the facts on this swap!!

ive driven an rx7 for a test drive once....because a local tune shop had one for sale......really fast car very nice highly modified but its nothing like driving an evo im sure it would take awhile to get used to. Especially if you loved the evo before, but if the rx7 came first it would be a nice transition.

their very nice cars, fits in with even the newer model cars and what not. but as everyone else has said its unreliable for a daily driver. if you plan on just keeping it on the side for a project then go for it.
