Question Thinking about an Evolution

Hello all this is my first post!! Ok I've been thinking about getting an Evo for a wile now and I'm wondering a few things. What is the best model, RS, IX, or MR? Are there any performance differences that are really noticeable, or is it all just looks? I do want to mod the car eventually and was wondering how much of a performance boost can you really get from any one mod?

Now my mind has been set between the Evolution or the new Saturn sky. The one main thing that is steering me away from the sky is how little it is. It has almost no room in it being a 2 seater. But with me its about performance, and I was wondering which car is faster, and better to mod?

Well I'm really looking forward to hanging around the forms!!!

If you cant choose between a sky or a evo the evo is not for you. and you can get up to 30hp from a flash

The Evo is way better performance wise! Plus it's actually practical too! I got my Evo in 2003 and I'll never get rid of it! I might even buy a couple more to add to the colection!

it is not a matter of what's the best out of the RS, GSR, MR, or SE models, it's a matter of what you want to do with the car and how much you want to spend for your base. each have their pros/cons even though they vary very little between each other.

i was in the same boat you are in, after 5 long months of reading about it every day and becomming a member of this site, i terminated my lease 3 months early and got on the band wagon on an evo.

VERY VERY EXPENSIVE CAR AFTER ALL IS SAID AND DONE, but well damn worth it, good luck

drive them both and THEN ask yourself those questions.

EVO-performance proven. a wealth of aftermarket performance parts. 4 door v8 killer
Saturn/GM-not many parts yet. maybe small and impractical for you. performance is just not there yet. 0-60 in 7.2sec(according to GM) compare to EVO-0-60 4.8sec.....

unless the saturn sky or the solstice comes out with a ls1, then it cant keep up. even with the 2.0L turbo engine at a mere 260hp(est) and 260ftlbs(est) according to GM. no performance aftermarket yet.

so drive the cars THEN ask yourself...what do i want to do with the car?? is space a premium or do i want a fun, weekend car, drop top, etc...

goodluck...

Thanx for all the help I do want the Evo. I was just reading around the sky forms last week and the people where saying its the fastest car they have ever owned, guess they don't know what fast it huh lol. Its a lot of money for the sky for as little as your going to get. I love the look of the Evo and the hard top and all the room is really nice, plus its an all year round car. I would like to get into racing, and drag, its something I've always wanted to do. It's good to hear that there isn't a big difference in performance between the models, I'd love the MR but cant shell out the $$$$$.
This is going to be my first car I've really done anything with so as you can tell I know nothing.
O and I think the biggest mistake with the sky is the lack of a hard top version. So now that I know its the the car for me I can go to the mitsubishi dealer!!!!! Thanx for all the help
