Hit&Run/aftermarket parts

Most likely not unless you had those parts insured. They'll probably buy you the oem parts or just cut you a check. If they cut you a check, put the OEM parts as what you're going to replace and then just buy some aftermarket becuase you'll have alot more money to spend.

It's true, you'll get more from the insurance company if you claim the value of the OEM parts. Even if they cut the check to the body shop, have the b-shop order the aftermarket stuff you want and take the diff from them.

It all depends on your insurance company. I had a car stolen before that was modded with lots of stuff. I had reciepts for everything up to 7000.00. I never reported new stuff to my insurance, but they still covered it because I showed them reciepts. That was with safeco. So far my new company allstate has done the same for my fiancees car that got stolen. last year.

I have Progressive. You see they offered me free towing to take the car to there service center......I really didin't know what to do and just had them tow it for me. The Adjuster called me and asked me where I bought my rims? I sent him printouts and prices, so hopefully they'll replace the aftermarket parts. If not, and they replace OEM parts that will kinda suck. I thought an Ajusters job is to save money, so new OEM parts will easily double. They have my car at thier service center, so it's totally in their hands now! They haven't given me a damge estimate yet or anything other than asking me about my rims. Damn I don't even have a cat on my car

Ya depends on your insurance company but chances are they will not cover aftermarket stuff. They'll pay a shop to replace everything with OEM parts or give you a check that would cover the OEM parts and labor. I am an independent insurance agent, i work with 7 big companies and none of them would pay for aftermarket. The only one I know of that insures aftermarket parts is Progressive for an additional premium.

The only plus I have now is I do have Progressive but never had any extra insurance for my aftermarket stuff! Worse case scenario, I'd have to buy a used exhaust and live with the stock Enkies.

Well just found this on Progressive's Website:
Do you consider the use of after-market parts in preparing repair estimates?
We write estimates using parts that will repair the damaged property to its pre-loss condition. Pre-loss condition means the comparable appearance and functionality of the damaged property before the loss, with consideration for normal wear and tear.
Subject to applicable state laws and regulations, Progressive Direct does write estimates using non-original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts in situations where these parts can cost effectively repair a damaged vehicle to its pre-loss condition
