bumper cam track video. enjoy!

couple videos from this weekend at motorsport ranch in cresson tx. it was the 3.1 mile course, and my first time on that new section, thus my lines weren't consistant.

anyway, the video is from a bullet cam mounted on my front bumper facing forward. it was located in the licence plate bracket so it is slightly left of center on the car. this was the first attempt at this setup, and as such, i didn't have sound hooked up. also i had nothing shielding the poor bullet cam from light glare (thus the red washout along the bottom). in bumpercam version 2, i will improve both of these features, and include the rear facing bumper cam as well (i had it working until i accidentally ripped the 9V battery plug wire in half)

the first video is me chasing a cayman S on big slicks.

and the second is me chasing Jim (silver evo 8) and john (red s2000)

enjoy and leave some feedback and opinions on how i can improve it!

thanks all!

Hey, kevin that video turned out pretty cool. What that video doesn't show is that my off track excursion was really a shortcut, and the faster way around the track. lol. It's ok though, I'll forgive you for posting that this time.

i can get the camera specs and brand some time this week. i bought it from frys electronics. it is a small security camera called the bullet cam. it was 70 dollars, and has its own built in microphone. however, i was missing adaptors to get the audio and video inputted into my DV camera that i usually use for in car video recorded.

note that the bullet cam has no means of recording by itself. it must be hooked to something that can record from a RCA A/V.

i can post the pictures of my mounting setup tomorrow, as i will have to remount it to demonstrate. no biggy, it goes on and off with only two screws.

So your in-car camera can record both the bullet and in-car audio/video at the same time? I'm kind of a camera noob.

no, it is only able to record one or the other. i use the A/V inputs on the DV cam and record the bullet cam feed to the DVD tape. it works well, but the quality of the bullet cam is no where near the DV cam. the DV cam is crystal clear even on my big screen. the bullet cam is fuzzy at any size.

Where on your bumper - left, center, right - is the camera mounted? Awesome video - looks like you early apexed and over-rotated on a few of the first vid - otherwise you'd have hung with the Porsche. Not bad for street tires vs slicks!!!
