Not sure exactly when. I bought mine a few months ago and mine was one of the victims so I bet yours is as well. Just check your boost gauge if you have one and if not install one. Mine was barely going past 1 bar peak/steady/anytime before the mbc was installed with new lines.

Go see Andy at speedelement in fremont. You won't be disappointed.

I had Andy from Speed Element and Paul at EIP Racing (they both use EIP's Mustang Dyno) take care of the tune.

Car is pretty much stock...except for a Works panel filter. I had a mbc installed on the car since apparently later IX's run much lower boost. I think I was spiking at around 21psi...and tapering to around 16.

After the flash I was putting down 275whp / 290tq with 23 psi tapering down to 19. This is also a very conservative tune. I don't know the specifics but there was 0 knock count in the upper rpms. They said aggressively tuned the car could put more than 280whp out from that setup at the cost of overall reliability.

I know Works and probably some others change out the pill and do it with the flash. It's much easier to just get a manual boost controller and do it that way though IMHO.

Thanks for the clarification. I'm pretty sure I will be getting an APEXi AVC-R so I guess I will use it. It will be nice to be able to change boost from inside the car.

even though the numbers aren't really impressive, i'd still get one if i was stock just to remove the launch rev limiter, high boost taper at high rpms, and just be able to rev higher.

the extra 5 or more ponies are not worth getting scared everytime you mash the pedal. would be nice though, but i would never compromise that with reliability.

Why would you want to rev higher if our cars don't make power up that high???

if you're a road racer, you would want to rev high in order to stay in boost and/or to stay in the power band during the upshift during a turn when needed.

if you're dragging, then the higher rev limit would be pointless, but fun nonetheless.

So does that mean the later IX's are slower than the older IX's?

1.5 bar x 14.5psi(1 bar) = 21.75psi

That makes way more sense. Thanks.

So who are the top tuners in your opinion?

How does Buschur's flash stack up against Andy's tune, or Ecutek, etc?
