Dont get me wrong I know that a slightly modded Evo 9 can be a beast and maybe that's why people hype them up. Maybe rightfully so.

stock, they are not that fast, its there modability that is there claim to fame in my book. with a couple of thousand dollars and some wrenching they are low 12 second cars, thats the appeal.
they are especially slow when you are a mullet guy like me who came from a 375+ rwhp LS1 fbody, or 03 cobra guys etc, when u get in a stock evo they feel damn slow ESPECIALLY on the highyway.
my 2 cents.

Probably why we have the highest horsepower Evo(supposedly) and the fastest one in a straight line after only having two of the nine models ever produced. It goes to show how ignorant we are. If you want horsepower and drag racing power, please, go get a mustang. Don't go by a rally-bred AWD race car and expect it to be a drag monster. The fact alone that this vehicle was bred solely to take turns like no other and race in the dirt, yet is still killing people in the 1/4 mile is astonishing, though. The japanese people had no intentions for this car to be a drag-warrior. Maybe thats why we go through clutches and LSDs faster than any other country with the Lancer Evolution. Could it be that this ten year engineered bearer of the 4G63 was not intended to run in a straight line, nor put down huge numbers on a dyno!? Maybe thats why the clutches weren't engineered for fat americans to launch the crap out of them. I watched a video recently where an American tuned Evo with a god-foresaken amount of power attempted to take down a japanese bred evo with barely 400 whp. The japanese evo was bred for response. So, lo-and-behold the high-horsepower guy fell behind in the first few turns, probably because he had some huge turbo that was going in and out of the power band, and by the time it made its 800 something horsepower, the japanese driver had put three - four more seconds on him. I know you all will argue with me, now. You will tell me your opinions, etc. But I'm sorry, I will take the advice from the japanese people, who not only made this car, but have had it long before most of us knew what it was.

I dont really want a lot of HP in the Evolution...I already have enough horsepower in my current car. When I get my Evolution im going to keep it simple, Flash and TBE. Im not into racing anymore, I am ready for somethign different.

You know, your probably right...as much as I want to disagree with you and myself im sure ill have the mod bug too. Just not right away. It took a year for me to start to mod the Camaro and a year later I ended up with a supercharger in the car lol.

I have my Evo stock, I used to have a turbo MR2 that ran low 14s. The Evo Feels quite a bit faster. But my Freind has Several mods and is bragging 330AWHP, i drove his and It very Fast, I have drive S4s and Subby wrxs, not an STI yet. The Evo Doesn't realy feel fast, but i do notice that when people try to pull away it isn't too hard to keep up. So its fast, but it isn't Invincible like most people think. But The evo did Become a Legend in its own lifetime, soo thats where all the Hype comes from. Thats My opinion. Happy Boosting.

my evo is stock and it will stay that way
i hate drag racing
stop adding performance parts to your evo and save yourself the headache and money.....and save your clutch!
i bought my evo for all around performance as a daily driver....power, handling, etc.
i will never race my evo
i'm not trying to impress anyone
i just smile and wave at every 16 year old driver that pulls up beside me in a mustang and revs the engine
watch the behind the scenes part of the fast and furious movies and hear about everything they tore up on the cars during the making of the movies
unless you are rich you don't need to be doing the same things...notice they have several cars for each car in the movie...because they completely tear them to pieces
what you see in the movies is not considered taking care of your car
and you wonder why doesn't want to honor the warranty on an evo
i wanted a high performance car that isn't flashy and that's what the evo is
any weather, any situation, rain or snow, paved road, gravel, or dirt
i've actually thought of taking that wing off the back and just putting a regular lancer wing on it...but anyway....sorry to disappoint everybody....just ignore me
continue on destroying your evo's and mankind as we once knew it
