Oil temp cooldown

For those with oil temp gauges. Approx how long after shutting down the evo does the oil temp drop out of it's operating temperature? 5min, 15min, 30mins?

Well I'm wondering if I go into a store for 15 mins and I get back in the car, would the oil still be up to it's operating temp. I'm sure someone with oil temp gauge has watched the gauge when they got back.

clearly would depend a bit on the ambient temp and how hard you were driving it

in the summer 90 degree days I could drive it to work, leave it for 3 hours and drive it again and it would be almost warmed up by the time i got out of the parking lot

now its 45 degrees and after an hour 45 its almost as cold as it is after I park it overnight

this is not precise, but given the controls.. same car, same oil weight, it is accurate

this probably didnt help at all

That makes sense, thanks for the info. Also does the coolant temp go down quicker then the oil temp or vice versa?

My oil temp stays up for about 20-30 minutes--high enough that it only takes 2-3 mminutes to get to full operating temp.
