Motor Trend Times EVO 13.08 WTF!!!!!!!?
Hey guys I jsut read in my Motor Trend that they timed several stock vehicles of which one was a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution ( in red ) They pulled a 4.5 0-60, and ran the 1/4 mile in 13.08 seconds@ 109 mph. Can anyone even begin to explain this time. From what i've seen Motor Trends numbers are usually underestimated, and if my knoledge serves me correct I thought they already timed it at 13.8 seconds a few issues back..... How is this car faster then a 300hp, same weight, and 6-speed trannied STi?

yah and mayber their was a magical ghost pushing it too...
Look at all the other tested times on this car 13.3 is the fastest ran and no one can back that time, not to mention a magazine which is known to run slower times then possible on 90% of the cars they test.

i've seen several sub 5 sec runs to 60, but that 13.02 is not right... unless they had a ringer...?
gearing... the EVO should hit 60 first as only 1 shift is required, whereas the STi must make the 2-3 shift before hitting 60...

I think most stock Evo's can actually get a 4.8-4.9 0-60. If Road & Track got a 5.1 0-60 with a 13.8 1/4. I believe there 60' was 2.0 but I'm not positive on that. Taking all this into account I see 4.8 being the 0-60 dash. Especially since most of us can hit a 1.8 60' in stock trim and some have probably gotten 1.7. HOWEVER there is no way in 9 hells that a stock Evo can run 109 mph traps. I'm sorry but that is impossible when compared to every other production Evo out there. I don't care if they ran 200 octane in the thing. Plain and simple it's a ringer. My guess is this particular Evo has the much sought after ECU upgrade which would make it easy to hide for stock purposes. I'm sure the car was remapped and probably gained a good 40whp or so. Who knows what else.

listen deny what you want but when figures don't add up something is wrong. My comment about the 6-speed was simplely that the sti has a lower 1st gear so it comming out of the hole is going to be faster then an evo, the evo ah to be launched at nearly 6000 to get it out of the whole quick. My 1/4 time was on a 6000 rpm clutch drop and I did have alot of wheelspin/wheel hop but not enough to make me run a .5 seconds slower. WE ARE TALKIN ABOUT MOTORTREND PEOPLE!! These guys are always under driving cars, look at their times. They timed a stock GSR @ 15.6 my cousin ran a 14.9 bone stock. My old eclipse was timed at 15.1, I ran a 14.5.
