Illegal to cut your license plate?
I have been searching around and it appears in Texas if "Texas" is removed, you can get a ticket, but what if I cut it really close and it still shows the state? (this is because I want to move it off the left side of the bumper)

Why? And why do you have it blocking your IC?
If you want the real answer instead of a bunch of people flaming you, why don't you call your State's licensing office and ask them...I'm going to bet no.

Just say you were in a Realy Odd Acciden't that resulted in the plate being Cut like that. I don't know if that will work though. Here in NJ you can't modify you plate in any way shape or form I believe all other states are like that too. Even putting a Frame is Illegal.

General FAQS for passenger vehicles (State of WA)

Attachment of plates (State of WA)

If you really want to be a smart a$$, if you do get a citation for having your license plate displayed on the dashboard you can cite RCW 46.16.240 to the officer and have a compelling argument (in WA of course).
I actually have my front license plate velcro-taped to the passenger side's sun deflector. IMHO this setup is much more effective because it's about eye level for oncoming cars, and is more visible due to it (duh).

Yah its plastic, looks wrong, has holes in it. I like the way Mitsu slapped it on real quick with 1/2 holes drilled straight into the bumper. They didn't even debur the holes.

I found out when i washed the car for the first time and took off that bulky plastic mounting frame because of the visible dirt accumulating around and behind it.

The purpose of forums are for open discussions. Since this is the 'Evo General' category, anything goes. If you don't like the topic generated don't participate, it's fairly simple. When you decide to join the discussion to insult the thread owner, do so in such a way that it doesn't make you less of an a$$ than the thread owner already is for asking.

I took a "driving awareness" class put on by police officers in the king county court house.
The two officers that were holding the class were both King County Sheriff motorcycle cops; and they both clearly stated that they will give any car they see without the front plate a ticket (duh). Furthermore, they said that any car they find that has the plate inside the vehicle (exact reference was on the dash) not only will they still write the ticket, but they will yell at you and write you tickets for anything they can to get the point across. Their reasoning was that, "if you were to get in a bad accident, can you imagine what that sharp metal plate could do to passengers?" And they both described at least one scenario where they had seen the plate on the dash be part of the cause of death in accidents.
Just a thought.
That being said; i don't run a front plate, and i have never gotten grief for it. Washington might have pretty strict traffic laws, but most are rarely enforced.
