Ok i'll try. I have it on my car as a daily driver on the stock turbo. You will also need a clutch after doing the alky as well, unless you can have it last for a little while. I have had it for 4 months with no issues. I have a test button like the rest that bogs the engine when it is being sprayed. If it doesn't bog, you know its not working and you def. shouldn't be driving. A red light also flashes when you are low. If it is professionally tuned i don't see why it couldn't be reliable with headstuds, pump, and not 30+psi all the time.

Hi,

We are going back to our zero tolerance for stupid comments. If you don't know the answer or have nothing to add to the content of the thread, then sit on your hands. If don't like the rules then leave. If you feel compelled to add an off topic, immature, dumb, insulting and/or flaming comment then you will be banned.

There is absolutely no reason for people to have to put with jerks who have no idea what the conversation is about. Just leave or be escorted to the door. Your choice. Thanks.

I have mine, and love it. I actually had my alcohol pump recently fail. I have had no problems with the car. If you are concerned, make sure you have a good conservative tune, that along with failsafes and you should be fine. I daily drive at 25psi then turn it up to 30 for track days.

Ok so a few other things you may want to consider: (1) a very good wideband with EGT sensor (Zeitronix, Innovative, etc.), (2) FMIC, (3) Lower Intercooler Pipe (LICP)....

I have done the standard mods on my IX (TBE, fuel pump (not needed yet), and flash / tune) and want more power as well....I think the best bang for buck next step for me is definitely the ALKY / METH option....I am just nervous about taking the head off / putting new ARP head studs on a perfectly healthy car ....

Finally, you have to consider warranty -- if you go down this path forget your warranty....

I have the Snow kit on my IX and it's my daily driver - I love it. I believe I have a good, but fairly conservative tune and picked up 36 whp and 53 ft/lbs from my baseline run to finished tune. (Baseline was 325 whp / 335 ft./lbs and the final was 361 whp and 388 ft./lbs) I am running 1 bottle of -20* washer fluid and 3 bottles of HEET and I'm at slightly over 25 psi. My mods are TBE, cone filter, Walbro, and MBC - good power for not a lot of money. I can tell you this much - my new tune running meth is a smoother driver and does not knock the way the car did without meth when it was tuned by a certain "Big" tuner.

Is it more work than not running it? Of course, because you need to always be aware of the fluid level, but they make fluid level sensors for that. Is it going to cost more? Again, of course because you need to buy whatever fluid mix you are running.

As far as losing your warranty, I personally don't think you should be doing ANYTHING to your car if you want to retain your warranty. If you think it's fair to modify your car and then try to have a company warranty it after that, you need to have your head checked. No one will be able to convince me that it's OK to put a lot of power into your car and then expect Mitsu to warranty it when it breaks, or to try to sneak it back to "stock" and then complain. YOU modified it - YOU take care of the repairs when they come around. If a warranty is something you want to keep, DO NOT GET METH OR ANY OTHER MOD!

OK, enough of my rant Good luck if you decide to go with it

Theres alot of risk when using 100% meth, I think the number 1 reason is its extremely flammable. If your tank leaks you might be alright if it was mounted somewhere besides the engine bay. If your line breaks, especially in the engine compartment, well you get the picture.

Also I don't think the gains compared to something like a 49 meth/ 51 water are worth risking the above.

Great to hear...so for you folks that have Meth / Alk kits -- I imagine most of the kits are installed in the trunk. Do any of you use real fuel cells (rather than cheap plastic bottles)? Are there any fire safety precautions that can be taken for a street car (no I dont want to install a fire system in a street car)? Thanks

PS -- my warranty issue is not about the engine, but for unrelated issues (e.g. the annoying rattle coming from the center of my dash)....

Not sure what you are looking for in a "real fuel cell"...washer fluid is 30% meth to begin with - comes in a thin plastic jug. HEET is 98% pure methanol and comes in a plastic bottle. What would lead you to believe that the stock washer bottle, or the aftermarket plastic container that comes with the kit wouldn't be sufficient? Not sure what you're looking for here.

As far as fire concerns, do you worry about a fire system on your car in case you break a windshield washer line while you are spraying your windshield while driving?

I'm not trying to be a smart-a** on either of my points, even if it comes across that way, but I think sometimes people worry about the wrong things...there are things far more dangerous with your car that people never give a second thought to than running a line with some washer fluid mix in it!
