What AWHP is stock intake good up to?

Did search found alot of threads many different answers. Wanted to know what you guys think the stock intake can handle before being too small/ over-restictive. Thinking about trading my apex-i cone filter setup with someoe for a Evo 9 stock intake

I had a BR filter on mine for awhile. The maf tends to get less accurate readings with the aftermarket filter. This was normally noticed at high loads in higher gears. My mileage took a dive and I saw boost cut more often than with the stock box and K&N drop in. The sound was much better though, very loud spool and noticable venting.

When switching back to the stock box I actually noticed a power increase.

Most Japanese tuners use the stock airbox for 450hp + "intakes" are a Honda fad.... I know quite a few guys with big turbo set-ups using MAF and stock box w/ drop in.

Classic example of why you need to be tuned when you add a cone filter.

You can add an intake to a totally stock car and gain power with the appropriate tune over what you would have made with the stock box. People spout out 400whp all the time, but have no personal experience to back it up. Just because someone has 500whp with the stock box doesnt mean it's the most efficient. If you're looking for the most power out of your setup, get an intake and tune to go with it.

See im tuned for a cone filter , so switching back to stock im sure the power increase will not be noticed till i get another tune ?

The Stock Air Box protects the MAF from outside noises and interferance. That alone is a huge advantage. Just get a drop in filter and be done with it.
