sorry to hear that man. it just saddens me even more that this world is full of f**king low-life losers who do not appreciate hard work and EARNING nice things, and they have to resort to stealing things from people who are just trying to live an honest life and enjoy the fruits of hard labor. those thieving scumbags need to be shot on sight, that's what i think.

I'd be curious to know if the ignition tumbler has been pulled and whether the ECU is still present. If the ECU is still there, I'm wondering if there is any way to determine if it was flashed recently. Trying to figure out whether they "hotwired" the car or put it on a flatbed.

Hey guys, Im a locksmith & I'm going to take apart my MR ignition tonight to see how people are stealing them. I have a few ideas, but taking them in 1 minute...that’s the question. I'll let everyone know what to do when I figure this out. Our keys/ignitions are more secure than you would think...so it really shouldnt be a smash & grab kinda job.

Not fair that JDM has a factory alarm as an option and we don't. It can be beat, but still peice of mind and deterrent.

Really sorry to hear. My apt. was broken into and cleaned out TWICE!!! Insurance had to cover 22K in lost electronics and stuff. What i'm getting at, is surf ebay and local pawn shops (if there are any) I found my xbox at a local pawn shop, and the cops found my tv and vcr at another. When a pawn shop buys stuff, they have to get contact info from the "seller" for this very reason. Best of luck, now I'm wondering if my garage and glock is enough??? Hearing this sh*t makes me sick.

Any updates? After reading this thread, I feel more insecure parking in public parking lots. I know how you feel man, hope all's good. Thinking about installing a lojack asap. Keeping your car in the garage should be safe.

So was your Evo tuned when it was jacked?

Basically, I just wanted to know whether they were able to get around the chip or they had to tow it.

well guys after all my evo was recovered. it was recovered 45 minutes away from my house... stripped....hacked into..... torn apart.... only the shell remains. the tow company thought it was so bad that they thought my car was a mitsubishi galant. yeah that stripped to be called a galant. well my insurance (progressive) investigated and took very good care of me and had closed the investigation in less than a month. thank god. now i go to ebay and socalevo.net to see if any MR parts are selling and put two and two together and catch those bastards. now im waiting to get my car again hopfully within this month of january....since my birthday is coming up i thought i would treat myself to a little present and buy me an evo again. i guess its getting easier and easier to break into these beasts now. i would highly recommend a alarm with a pager first off. it pisses me off because it makes me feel like i cant drive what i want to drive without someone ruining other people's pride and joy. thank you all for all your input and concern. hopfully 2007 will be better and my new evo not getting jacked this time.
