The "defective" '05 coolant line?

I haven't found pics or much useful info on many searches....

What I'm looking for is more info on the '05 "recall" on the coolant line for the turbo... Did anyone do the fix themselves? Is it just the conncection between rubber and metal that leaks? Mine is starting to make a mess with coolant around these hoses.

If the whole line has to be replaced, what all has to come out to do that and how much coolant will I lose in the process?

I work too much to take the car in during the week and don't have much to do on the weekends except wrench.

what exactly happens to this coolant line? does it just explode and you have coolant spilled everywhere?

This is only for the 05s, I have bad luck with turbo lines, mainly Oil Lines. Did you check the DIY section, if you can't find it there just ask, someone will take pics. I take pics of everything i do on my car, I changed the oil, took pics.

It splits right at the elbow and coolant and smoke shoots everywhere. Then you will need a tow.

Yea i had the recall printout when i got it from school. it will be replaced for free when you take it to the dealer..they replace the rubber line beacuse of a risk that it will leak and start a fire...most of the 05s are affected

Mine just got tiny little holes all in the line and coolant would spew out and you would see lots of smoke.. I just bought a hose and fixed it myself, but then my car was at the dealer having some other warranty work done and they replaced it again, lol..
