I was calling dealerships all over socal asking for a rally red VG and they said nope only phoenix red, so im like damn no one has em, finally I called norco parts departments, he looked into it a lil deeper and found out paint code is P23, and asked for my vin and he said your car is phoenix red, there is no rally red, im like mmm ive been calling it RR since I bought it, so for those of you who are curious to know your paint color its phoenix red, if all u guys already know that then im a dumb *** and please disregard this thred {thumbup

ive never heard of phoenix red i always thought it was rally red also thats interesting

 

I had to order some touchup paint, and rally red is indeed the same paint code as phoenix red, P23. I guess they just gave it a more exciting name for the Evo.

 

Rally red was for the 8, Phoenix red is for the 9's. In my understanding!

its not,

mitsubishi calls the evo IX PHOENIX RED, not RALLY RED. As stated above, I ran into complications trying to get a RR VG but didnt exist ;(

 

in Aus they list the IX red as Rally Red

if its the same paint code, its the same F'ing paint, it doesnt matter what you want to call it.

 

The website still calls it Rally Red.

 

Its called Rally Red for Evos. All Evo colors correspond to a less exciting Lancer color name and similar code. Only Lightning Yellow and Graphite Gray have the same for both Evo and Lancer/Outlander alike.

Its just that for 03-04 Evos Rally Red=Phoneix red and has the same paint code.

'05/'06 Evos are also Rally Red but the actual color has changed and so has the code.

So if you try putting something that is '03 Rally red on an '06 car it will not match. 03/04 RR is bright red. '05/05 is a little darker, more cherry.

 

Do the Red IX's have a clearcoat?

I think the 03's in red were w/o a clearcoat. Not sure on this point?
