SHould be fine lowered, just got mine lowered so ill let you know when it snows . Just be on the look out for ice clumps etc. Also after fun in the snow I had a couple instances where ice/ snow bulit up in the wheels and on the driveshaft and caused a HORRIBLE vibration. So dont get worried if you feel that, just gotta melt it all off lol

I'm heading into the third winter with mine. Yep it's fun in the snow. Blizzaks are great but kinda spendy and they wear quickly when the roads are clear. Hakkas are great as well. Friends of mine have been lucky to get two winters on either of those sets of tires because of how quickly they wear on the road.

I have a second set of tires (Michelin Alpin Sport) for winter mounted on my painted stock rims. They have been great tires too. They are cheaper than blizzaks and like I said, I'm on my third winter now and they still look brand new.

I know these cars must be animals in the snow(my R32 was) but after researching the quality of mitsu paint Im a little nervous with rusting. I have a beater anyway so i may as well garage it for the winter.

I'm thinking of using mine to go snowboarding in our local mountains this winter with appropriate tires. They don't use road salt here, fortunately. Just plows.

Two questions I have:

(1) Under the local chain laws I should not need chains with the right tires, since it's AWD. But .... has any of you ever had the highway patrol insist that you need chains, even when you didn't need them as the law is written?

(2) If I use Rally Armor mud flaps, is my lower body paint going to get trashed from all the muck?

well it won't rust through the paint, and all of the chips you'll get from the sand kicking up will be on your hood which is aluminum so it won't rust

Evos are perfect in the snow, shoot you could even throw some springs and a CF front lip on and have a slow plow car...
