My escort passport 8500 is the bomb. What about those BS tickets, like that one guy who got a ticket for having a wing that was too big. I got a ticket for obstruction of view for the New Car Window Sticker that is on the windshield and that happened when I was stopped at a traffic light.

yeah, my Escort Solo 2 has saved me plenty of times, but lost twice. I want a V1, but I'll need to hardwire it b/c I broke my cig lighter. Atleast in GA, if you keep it under 15mph over the limit, it doesn't effect your record or go on your insurance. I dread my policy renewal in January. Just installed new pads today, so that better slow me down....yeah right!

I have a BEL rx65 as well and loving it...BTW this question is for anyone who has a BEL rx65 or maybe it applies to all other radar detectors out there.

Does occasionally your radar detector shuts off for like less than a sec and starts back on right away???? I'm afraid that my radar detector is going bad or maybe is just a electrical thing, dunno.

Yeah, Hear ya about people complaining that they got a ticket. Sometimes the complaint is warrented though.

Since this thread is now about radar detector; It sucks to live in Virginia, because they're illegal

I have the escort x50 and granted i <3 it, but bad news for my area, cops are starting to use KU band which used to be in europe only. not any more. The Valetine 1 nor my radar detector or most others will pick this band up. i believe the only ones out there are the high end cobra's (which pick up too many false signals) and the beltronics 965 and 995 i believe, (i might have those model #'s slightly wrong)

the bullsh!t tickets I can understand a post about(the whale tale wing, or stock exhaust). But tickets for loud aftermarket exhaust, speeding, etc. you wanna play you better to be ready to pay. Bluedemon is your detector hardwired. I had that same problem with my V1 after about 6 months of it being hardwired(crappy vampire clips). Took wire strippers and stripped the wires and twisted together, electical taped em, and havn't had a problem since. It was also happening with my turbo timer because of the same reason. Solved it with the same solution @ the same time. Had evrything open so I killed two birds with one stone.

Speed limits are BS. How about giving people tickets for tailgating, not using their turn signals, changing lanes in an intersection, or practically anything else that really is dangerous?

The idea that 90 year old that hasn't actually had a driver's test since he got his license, and even then it was 15 questions about 'What does a red traffic light mean?' and can he parallel park, and stop for a stop sign? He can drive his pre-war Ford 60 in a 55 at night and the cops can't even stop him because of the margin of error, and a 25 y/o who has 3 certificates from Bondurant and drives an Evo can lose his license for 80 in a 55 during the day with no other cars around sucks. Then the insurance companies dole out the cruel and usual punishment.

I agree that by far most cops are good people just out to help, but there are also a few dirty, sadistic ****** wearing a blue uniform and a badge.

i might have to agree a little on this.....cops are POS.

they are out hassling drivers that have nicer cars or faster cars (i.e Evos, STis, turbo/modified vehicles) while there are real dangers out there. While they are messing with some driver, there are rapes, murders, burglaries, etc, etc happening in the same area, but they arent goin after that. cops suck major ****. for me, at least, i detest Highway Patrol, those guys are just a bunch of dicks that have a badge and think they are above all (well maybe thats all cops to some of us).

Im not gonna complain about my speeding ticket, because it was my fault, but i think the HP could have been a little more lenient with me considering the fact that i have a clean record, no one else was on the road, and it was later in the night on a four lane road. oh well....

Ok to Diablo...all I hear is "wahhhh, wahhh" You're a turd if you think cops are POS. Hasseling drivers of cars like ours? I wonder why, perhaps because of all the posts about "I was doing 65 in a 35". And since you're thinking process is non-existent you obviously don't realize that every cop has a different job to do. They don't all investigate rapes/murder/crime in general. Most of the cops you see in patrol cars are doing their job, keeping whiney little biznatches under control by ticketing their reckless behavior. So don't blame the HP for not being lenient on you, that's not thier job. If they do decide to cut you a break consider yourself lucky. Otherwise pull your thumb out of your mouth, suck it up and don't take for granted the men and women in uniform who would take a bullet to make sure your family stays safe.

Jeebus I hate it when idiots complain about cops....at least you're not African American in the early 20th century, then you'd have a reason to complain.

*rant mode off*

So only the majority of cops in patrol cars just look for speeders? is that what you are saying? thats a bunch of bull IMO.

Yes i have a non-existent thinking process because somewhere I said that every cop has the same job?

and where do you hear the "waah waah"? all i said was that cops should be doin other things to keep the community safer, and i said it was my fault.....maybe your comprehension needs a little work.....
