The honeycomb really isn't that important what is important is the filiment, It should be in the middle of the maf behind the honey comb inside what i can only describle as a rifle scope. The piece is usually just a thin piece of plastic with a heated wire attached. Its VERY sensitive to touch, so dont even dare.

The 3 most likely culprits are the MAF plug, a disconnected IC pipe, or a damaged MAF. I still say the best thing to do is start over and put the stock intake back on. Doing just that simple, basic step would be far more useful than this entire thread has been.

What about problem code scanning at least he wouldn't have to take it apart?

18X9.5 +40 Enkei NT03+Ms with 25mm spacers wrapped in 285/30-18 V710s. I'll be posting about everything in the Motorsports forum when it's all done. The wheels and tires are mounted, balanced, and ready. The suspension gets done in a few weeks, and then I just have to sort out my 6spd-to-5spd conversion with Shep, and I'm ready other than getting a harness.

PM me if you have other questions so we don't take this off topic further.

He said there were no codes, which again rules out the MAF plug, because not plugging that in throws a code. I have no idea how the car is behaving this way with no code, but if there were a code, that would be another first order of business.

diz - i did reset the ecu./

venom - theres a thicker vacuum line, and a thinner 1, you can't mix the up because 1 of them just wont go on 1 of the pipe bungs ... im not doing anything right now, so i could unplig the pos/neg to the battery and let it sit for like `a while` or so...

just very confused right now =/ and putting back on the stock intake would be a pain in the ***..

Stop typing and re-install the stock intake.

In fact, you should not even use the HKS until you are ready to get tuned. It will only throw off your AFRs and make you slower than stock while being unnecessarily loud. One of the worst things about ricer Hondas is when I hear one trying to go fast, and all I hear is that stupid intake noise, yet I don't hear the exhaust at all. That's totally backwards...

More of a pain in the *** than having a car that doesn't run while sitting on here spinning your wheels?

Again, why are you so attached to this intake that is detrimental to the health of your Evo and that doesn't even give you a performance gain without a tune? I'm baffled by that...
