How Many Evo Owners Have Zero tickets with the Evo
#31
No tickets in 10 years.....two close calls in the last year.......got pulled over for 58 in a 30 and he told me to slow down and "nice car" (I was suprised he only clocked me at 58!)
I haven't used a radar detector for 10 years....I used to get tickets when I had one.....I do most of my "spirited driving" on the track......but I do like to rip up the back roads in NH once in a while......seems like the GG color does not get noticed as easily.......
my bud drives a red 06 G35 Coupe and he gets pulled over all the time.......I think he is more timid than me on the road....but you can see that G coming from a mile away
Helps having some grey hair helps too..........Sick Speed

I do extremely spirited drivining. I have a 3" exhaust with no resonator. I have 5% limo tint all around (except windshield obviously!). I have been stopped about 11 times in three years...but no tickets? I wonder if my avatar has anything to do with it? Before you guys start hating me...I offer my help :-) Aside from obtaing a career in law enforcement and getting your "misdemeanor pass"; send me a copy of your ticket and I will offer some inside help......FWIW. Be safe...

I had 1 ticket in 23 years of driving prior to the Evo. I then get the Evo and I get 2 in the 1st year of ownership - the 1st ticket was 2 months after getting the Evo (72 in a 55), on my way to a funeral of all places. It's the wing - the cops hate you if you have a wing. I drive between Albany and Baltimore, and cops love to pull out and tail me all along the route.
My wife's Passat wagon is all but invisible to the cops. We avg'd 80+mph from Harrisburg, PA to Albany, NY, with some speeds hitting 90mph on one memorable trip with the wife driving. Not one ticket - and the wife brags about it and scolds me. I'm putting a wing on her wagon this week while she's away on business.

Been pulled over 3 times w/no tickets in 1 year in my Evo. 1st time I blew around a corner right in front of a LEO, I went 1 block and pulled off to wait for him, he pulled in behind me, approached me asked for the usual, then asked why I was driving that way. I said, “honestly, I just did some tuning on the car and wanted to see how it would pull in 2nd and I like the sound”, he said ok, handed me back my lis & reg, informed me that the dealer failed to re-register my tag, and then asked the funniest question, he said”is this your sons car?”, I said no, its mine. He said the reason he pulled me over was that he thought I was a kid! LOL and sent me on my way.
I went straight to the DMV and got a new military branch specific tag and slapped a nice “military Police” sticker across my rear window, cross pistols next to my tag. Within two weeks I got pulled over again for a minor “SLOOK” (slow & look instead of coming to a complete stop), he was very cool about it, said come to a complete stop next time, I thought you were a kid (trust me it’s the car, I don’t look young), handed me back my L&R and invited me to a “pin shoot”.
About 3 weeks later I was coming over a huge 4 lane bridge at night, got tagged by a guy hiding on foot w/ a laser in the center. Come over and there had to be a least 8-10 LEOs waiting on the side w/ 3-4 further down with cars pulled over. Came to the light, LEO pulled in behind me, lights on, over I pull. Engine off, windows down, interior lights on, hands on wheel. He approaches, looks at my sticker, asks how long was I in , my rank, etc. I told him I knew I was going fast, no excuse, he handed me back my L& R said he didn’t want to right a veteran, 68 in 45, “slow it down a little and have a nice evening”
In EVERY situation, I deserved a ticket, but didn’t get what I deserved! Being a former MP and advertising it definitely helps, but showing respect in the way I pull over and address the LEO goes a long way too!
Please note, this is very good advice: Pull over with enough room for the LEO to safely approach your car, roll all windows down before he approaches and turn off your engine, at night turn on interior lights, place both your hands on the steering wheel so he can see them, be polite, respectful and you may get off with only a verbal at best, minimized infraction at worst.

BTW, It's definately the wing!! However, the car looks ugly without it! I'd love to find a lower profile wing that would provide some DF and wouldn't obstruct my rear view like the stocker.
