Mod Order

So I decided to screw waiting for my warranty to end, and just mod anyways. I know what everyone always says to start off with (MBC, TBE, flash, cams, fuel pump, etc), but my question is how long could I hold off on the TBE before it would be pointless to mod without it? I know the TBE will be a MUST once it gets into more hardcore modding, but if I wanted to hold off on TBE as long as possible, what would be the order? Could I do MBC and fuel pump without a TBE?

Do a K&N drop in, a mbc and a flash. That will make the car pull much harder but still remain very stock in apperance, not to mention quiet. I drive around with a 3 inch exhaust with no cat and gets annoying sometimes....good thing my girl understands.

You didn't give us a $$ figure to work with...

There's not much reason to mod without a TBE. Yes, you can do an MBC + tune.

Well, Im pretty sure Im not doing much more than those mods (MBC, TBE, flash, cams, fuel pump). But then again I assume thats how all the mod junkies start off...thinking they wont do too much. So well see.

So Im gonna get the MBC first. But could I do a fuel pump and cams (and then a flash after all that of course) and hold off on the TBE? Just wondering if Id be wasting my money on the fuel pump/cams without a TBE.

Why do you have such an aversion to the exhaust? You can do the MBC and tune without the exhaust as long as you don't raise the boost much at all, but I don't see any use in doing cams.

What's the deal?

I know people are going to call me crazy, but I like the fact that my car is soo quiet right now. Haha. Yes, I know theres silencers and what not, but its also one of the most expensive mods, and it adds noise (which Id prefer to not have).

I know there has to be a balance somewhere, so I know I will have to get it eventually, and Im sure the power gains will be well worth the extra noise. But if there was a way to hold off on it, while seeing HP gains without it, then I was going to take that route. Thanks for your help Warrtalon!

If those are your priorities then you should consider getting just a downpipe with an exhaust cut-out, then youll have the best of both worlds.

Actually, you could just get a test pipe and leave the rest of the exhaust stock. That will give good power at low cost and no real change in sound. That plus the MBC, fuel pump, bov, and tune will be good for mid 12s.

Never consider a silencer to be a solution. A 3" TBE with a silencer makes less power than the stock exhaust.

Ok, one more question. This may sound ridiculous, but I just need clarification. If I get an MBC that I can manually change inside the car (like Hallman), and I get tuned for a specific boost level (like lets say 21). Now, if I decided I kind of wanted to raise it for a couple days (lets say 23), would it need to be re-tuned for that level? Sounds like an expensive process if thats the case...especially if you go back and forth between the two every now and then.

From my understanding, you don't "tune" for a specific PSI you want to run. Your fuel determines everything. I asked a similar ? when David B. flashed my ECU. So, on 94oct, I run 22psi, but if I run C16, I can crank it up to say 25-26psi.
