Straight pipe exhaust
Right now I have an Authority 3 inch cat-back exhaust on my Evo9. For the most part, it's straight pipe with no resonators or anything. What I wanna do is get the huge canister part of the exhaust cut off and put a 3 or 4 inch straight pipe on so I can get the rumbling noise similar to that on the SRT4. My question is, will that work?
Before you reply, if you dont like this idea, dont even bother posting back. I know this doesnt really add anymore horsepower, Im simply wanting to do it for the sound. So please, dont post a bunch of garbage about "why would you wanna do that?"
Thanks to those who can give me a good answer

That's not a bad idea. It'll probably work...Works has something like that.

IIRC someone did that same exact thing, he had his canister flanged off and had a pipe made to look like a tip, not too sure if it made a difference, try searching, he had it so that he could put back on the canister if he wanted to

I think I'd take cam rumble over neon rumble anyday and a straight pipe all the way back is going to be crazy loud and probably won't be bearable for daily consumption. I've never been close enough to the neon to hear the "rumble" it produces so I'm not quite sure the sound you're going for but at any rate I doubt it sounds like an EVO with no resonators or mufflers.

my friend did that with his buschur cat-back because the muffler section is a slip-fit and all he does is slip it off and slip in the str8 out pipe but its angled so there arent any bend. It actually sounds super mean his car is a evo 9 and damn when he barely gets on the gas you can hear the spooling like crazy!!!
