They are 1000000 times better IMHO. I actually took my GSR back and got the MR after driving it for one night because of this. I have horrible night vision and the non-HID halogens were probably the worst I've seen on any car.

Wow, that's pretty extreme.
You can buy aftermarket hids for $300 that are better than the stockers dude...

Anyways, if you're thinking about an Evo; the lights shouldn't be of major concern! lol. But the non-SSL IX's do have pretty crappy lights. I switched mine out with some HID's I bought through this forum!

+1 on Aftermarket set if you don't buy a model that has them already.

Too cheap not to!

Strange, I have never cared that much (to trade my car in for another), sure they are not uber bright, but they work. Silverstar are not bad upgrades.

I got a cheapo ebay kit for $170 shipped and they're super nice. I was going to get a XD kit for $400 but once I saw the quality of the kit and light output of the ebay kit on my friends car I was sold.

any HID kit will work, really as long as their is a plug and play harness. only worries i would have with a no name kit would be how long the bulbs would last. other then that should be no problems. i bought a kit from a friend selling some last year and the ballasts were HELLA brand. they lit the streets up nice only thing was the bulb went out. either way you cant go wrong with HIDS.

HID kit works wonder for cars like the evo because the models with halogen has projectors already. HID is crap without projectors because of the glaring, but it's not a problem for the evo get 6000K for best result, imo.

Thats the one and only thing I don't like about my IX compared to the old VIII. These headlight suck.
