V1(Valentine1) and jammers.
I understand that the V1(Valentine1) is very nice but has anyone tried radar/laser jammers? If so do they work and which do you like?

Jammers are illegal here in CA and you WILL get busted-- they know when you use em. I have an ESCORT 8500 and it never fails to save my ***. V1 is outdated, IMHO, especially in Ka which is what all cops use...

You are the first person I have ever seen that has said the V1 is outdated. They offer updates and it is the best out of every head to head I have seen.

The radar jammers I believe are illegal but I don't even think they work. The laser jammers definitely work and are not illegal to my knowledge. You can get them from passport too.
Check out this site http://www.escortstore.com/srx.htm
They are expensive plus the installation looks like it would be pretty involved and easy to mess up... Neat idea though, if I had extra $$ burning my pockets I might get one just for insurance......

The V1 rocks. I'm not sure about the Ka band comment. The cops around here use that band and the V1 finds em everytime!.....and it finds em at a huge distance.
I love being able to use the directional signal display. It really helps you sift through any false readings!
I fully endorse the V1.
SC~ who lives in a a state where it's illegal to have a radar detector at all.

Ok lets understand one thing......
Transmitting any RF signal is ILLEGAL due to FCC regulations..... So RADAR jammers are definitely ILLEGAL.
Transmitting LIGHT is not illegal, or else we wouldn't have headlights in cars.
So LAZER/LIDAR jammers are legal
If you get caught with a RADAR jammer you can be brought up on FEDERAL charges, keep that in mind.
Thanks for your support.....

The Valentine's strength is indetecting every K-Mart or Wlamart in the country
BTW, all these detectors are excellent at laser sensitivity, but by the time you detect the laser it's generally too late.... there are several laser jammers which do work and are legal (so far) take a look at www.radartest.com and look at their tests, reports, etc. They claim to be totally impartial and they receive no money, advertising or any kind of favors from the radar detector manufacturers. They also claim to purchase all units annonymously from stores so they do not test "ringers". I used their information among others to make my decision to go with the Passport 8500.

The one State that I know you get in mad trouble for having detectors is VA, not sure if its illegal, but if it isn't it mine as well be because of the penalties they give out cause of em.

They are illegal in VA. I only use mine when I am travelling outside of VA....
The good thing about the Valentine One, is that you can program the unit. If you live in a state where the police don't use X-band, you can disable it on the detector.
Being able to program the box is helpful if false hits bother you. The few I get bother me very little. I just look up at the detector each time it alerts me. If there is more than one radar source (on the same band) it is detecting (in even numbers), it is usually the automatic door openers in front of a shopping center it is detecting. If it is detecting 2 different radar bands, chances are that one is a cop.
In PA, the state police still use very old radar guns. I have had more than just a few X and K band hits on the Turnpike that turned out to be cops.
It's when you don't detect things like security system perimeter sensors and automatic door openers that you should begin to worry. Because cops and automatic door openers use the same frequencies to conduct their jobs.

If you live in a state where the police do not use it, you can disable it on a V1 if the false-positives get annoying.
