If you have dirt and grime in the filter, make sure you wash that out, or get a new one. You don't want the dirt to dry up in there, because then it'll turn to "dust," and dirt/dust is not something you want your motor injesting.

Yeah, so did I.. i just checked with another evo guy who rode with me now to see what the lag was, it turns out that the tach jumps from 3200 to 4000 suddenly in 4th and 5th gear, apparently my clutch is slipping, so that cleared my head on what the issue was..
Still, its gonna be hell just trying to get all that crap out of the engine bay.. live and learn...

Soo sad, getting crap for driving an Evo in a mud puddle. F for all of you nubs! It was always a rally car before a sports car, dragster or garage queen. Just like anything reaaly fun though, clean up is a bish and sometimes it costs more $
If there's no Cel light and if it dosn't do it again, no worries. Chances are during the abuse you took your ECU out of the safe cells of the map and got your timing or boost pulled.
You can get a mesh fitted water repellent breathable cover for that filter at outerwears.com Are you tuned for that filter? MAF scaling makes a huge difference in drivability, Especially if you've been messing with an MBC.

No, i'm not tuned for the filter yet, i bought that off a friend to drive around till i bought the HKS suction intake... doesn't feel to be such a bad of an intake, but then again i have nothing to compare it to, so i guess i'll have to search up on some reviews... The problem turned out to be the clutch slipping, so my mind is clear on that..
just checked the car, no new rock chips, undercarriage looks good, maybe i should invest in some mudflaps next time =)

Dude, that's an evo not a Jeep!
Now you've learned the hard lesson many 4-wheeler's have-mud sucks!
Mud, water and internal combustion engines don't mix well.
