evo VIII + cams or IX with 28psi?

I was reading that thread about how a few people have blown a piston or rod. And I've always known the 4g63 to be one of the best and most solid engines out there under high boost. I'm waiting to either get an 05 or 06 and I'm thinking, would it be more reliable to get an 05 with say 22-23psi cams and other basic mods to shoot for 350whp? or is it ok to just wait and get a used 06 and get a super good tune at 28psi with meth inj and other basic mods. and chance anything going? I'm going to be using the car as a daily driver so I don't know which route would be the best to go with. Any advice? All I'm really shooting for is a good daily driver with 350-400whp

28 PSI is too far to push a 16G. But, IX's with just and exhaust and a flash are putting out around the same numbers as VIII's with cams, exhaust, hot side, and a tune. About 300 -315 whp on DynoDynamics dynos.

What kind of control can you buy to change the boost for daily driving. Is the electronic bc pretty reliable? I'm montly concerned about damaging the engine by pushing 350-380....is there anyway to have a meth kit switch on and off when you want...as well as controling boost but keeping it accurate?

ebc are reliable. just have the right tuner to set the numbers. i suggest puting on a dyno while tuning ebc. some ebc have a low boost setup and a high boost setup. im pritty sure the meth controller has some sort of on or off. not sure on the meth.
