question about evo 8's alignment problem
I have a 2004 evo 8. Ever since I've had problems with my alignment. Mainly tires are wearing on the inside. I'm aware that Z rated tires that they recommend for us wears out faster than regular tires. I've had to replace my tires every year all four tires. Mainly because it wears on the inside really fast. I've taken it to shops 5 times now. Does anybody else had the same problem? I haven't done any mods in my car yet. So I still have all factory parts. How often do you guys have to change your tires?

If the allignment shop keep setting it back to factory specs it will keep on wearing your inside of the tires out. The factory set this extreme to make it handle better and get better skid pad ratings. Go to a shop and tell them that you do not want it set back to factory spec, that you want the toe of the tire to be even, you will get alot better tire wear.

I got Mitsu to warranty my first set of Advans because they were toast at 3,000 miles after that they asked me if it was ok to set the toe different to get better tire wear and i said yes for sure. Then next set of ADvans lasted 6,000 miles and then i switches too Khumo MX and they last like 15,000 miles. Most people only get like 12,000 miles off of the stock Advans at most.

Inside tires wear out due to the neg. camber the factory specs has.
Front camber is fine at .5 degress but rears are set more neg. and more toe-in.
You can go to an independant alignment shop and tell them the settings you want for longer tire wear.
At 17K my stock A046 still had 6/32 in the middle and 3/32 on the edges.
Although I rotate them every 3K miles.
