How do you know when your transfer case is broken or gone??

Hi everyone, I was racing today and everytime I drag, I get scared that my transfer case would break. Everytime I shift into second and dump the clutch I get this popping noise, can someone please explain the noise? And how would you know when your transfer case is gone? I did some research, but couldnt find it. I only found things about "My Transfer Case Blew" etc etc...I want to know how do you know if it blew...Thanks...

usually if your transfer case is going bad you will hear a high pitch noise coming from it

if it's not whining in every gear (and when rolling in neutral) then i don't think it's your TC.

What he said ^^^ --- Your TC would increase in volume until it sounded like a siren from a fire engine or something --- and it would do it WHENEVER the driveline is engaged.

I think you might just be hearing the typical evo rear dif moving on its mount. It makes kinda a thudding sound that i guess could be described as a pop

My tcase broke last month and i was doing about 70 on I-10 and my car pretty much just stopped itself. The car wouldnt drive, and if you still cant tell that loud whine should let you know.
