On a track with curves? Or straight line... straight line.. talk to the above posts. Curves, you can take him right now with maybe 1000 or 2000 into your car, R-compounds, decent coil overs, exhaust, tune... you're set, trust me He does anythign to his car, then it's a different story.

Put down the crack pipe, and step away from the NOS bottle...
Ain't gonna happen...
IF you spend enough to get your EVO to 600 whp, then mebbe... but the Z can spend half as much, own you, and look better in the process. Road course - no contest. EVO wouldn't even be close... As for top end runs, fuggetaboutit!

Just remember he throws in just a filter/exhaust/tune he's up 75whp add a cam he's up and over 600whp.
There is a video on Buschur's site, I won't link it for fear of moderator lashings, but it's on Buschur's site under video.
His mods are in the video and he has closer to 20K in the car counting install he ran neck and neck with a stock Z06 to almost the top of 4th. Far more than 6k though. Then loses to a TT C5 Z06 pushing 614whp.

How much would it cost - minimum - to get my 05 VIII to the point where I could race him from a dig until 160 mph and stay ahead the whole time? This is purely hypothetical, of course, so the moderators need not be concerned that I'm advocating an illegal race. I was just curious what it would take to prevail in a race like this. I'm assuming that I would need a bigger turbo to exceed his top end ability.

think of it this way...Chris' car is for sale for around 40K and it is rated at 903 whp...buy it, which is still cheaper than buying a new Z06, and see who would win that race. It hard to win a topend race with the evo...they are really built for that high of speed....but with a good tuner...anything is possible.
