While insurance rates going up arent going to affect me owning the car or not, it still does suck to have rates go up 15% at one time when I havent had any claims or tickets. If I am careful, my rates should not have to go up just because of other peoples driving.

You are welcome. The mini van driver who caused the wreck told me to tell you personally that he was sorry for your increase.

Yeah I got got my 6 mo renewal notice a few minutes ago and almost spilled hot tea on myself when I saw the increase..... although its not an astronomical amout it kinda made me annoyed cuz that extra $24 I have to spend could have been used for 3/4 a tank of gas, or maybe 4-5 happy meals at McDonalds

well, look at the bright side. because it is costing you 24 dollars more a year, and thats such a huge weight out of your pocket... i bet the weight savings alone will make more then a 24 dollar/year savings.

lets look at the math...:

assume you drive 15,000 miles a year and get 20 mpg. and gas averages 2.20/gallon.

that will cost you $1650 dollars a year in gas.

now lets assume you save 24 dollars/year in gas by the reduced weight...

that means you are now getting 20.29 mpg.

certainly the weight difference of 24 dollars in pennies can cost you .29mpg difference over the course of a year.

so look at the bright side, without dragging all those pennies around, you'll save 24 on gas money, but be spending it on insurance.... for a net difference of 0.

mine doubled over the last year and a half. 28 yrs old no tickets, no accidents. When I got mine in '04, I do not beleive that Erie insurance knew what an evo was and I think that is the reason.
