My wife has one. It's not a GP, it's an S. It is honestly an awesome little car. I wouldn't get rid of my Evo for one but, I would be lying if I said it wasn't almost as much fun to drive. No where near as fast but, heated seats, auto climate, cruise control and other things like that along with great handling go a long way.

Here is the thing. Everyone has those moments where they look at someone else's life, find something they like about it, and imagine what it would be like or how to achieve it. You arn't an idiot for doing that. You're an idiot for not kicking yourself the moment you woke from that reverie. There was a time in my life where I liked the Scion xB. I've kicked myself for it and moved on.

you will get bored with the looks pretty quick...this kind of "Funny" retro look is fine to look at once in a while...I wouldnt buy it as my only car really...its like wearing pink for men...some do it cause they like it...but can they wear it everyday....nope...cause its gay.
People that I know who owned it lost the feel for it after a year at the most.

The GP is not turbocharged.
The new turbocharged Mini (R56) will not hit the states until this spring. No JCW or other hot rod version of the new TC 1.6 has been specced or announced.
I had a heavily modified 03 MCS that put down about 212 hp to the wheels. It runs a good line and can compete at the track with more powerful cars with a good driver.
However, given equal drivers, an EVO or STI will beat it at the track. The EVO can carry as much speed through the turns and accelerate faster on the exits and in the straights.
Additionally if you think Evos have quality control problems, lurk on the Mini boards and hear the horror stories about bad body and engine harnesses, engine fires, power steering pump failures, stuttering problems and chronic squeeks and rattles. My MCS was in the shop constantly during the first 3K miles I owned it. Knock on wood, my Evo has been flawless.
BTW:
During the three years I owned my MCS I felt no lessening of the urge to bang my wife or fantasize about the hot asian chick at the gym or the redhead at the supermarket. In other words, if you think the type of car you own influences your sexual orientation - it's probably only a matter of time before that closet will no longer hold you.
