questions about higher mileage evo

I found a very fair priced 03 white evo with a clean title. The car has just over 70k on. My questions to the evo community are what are some things or signs that I should be aware of when looking over the car. I know the obvious like clutch whinny t case etc.. But whats the matience on an evo for a t belt, water pump etc. Any info would be great.

thanks
chris

Have a mechanic look at it, why guess on a car worth $35,000? We Evo owners like to mod the cars.

Timing belt should be done at 60k. Some people like to be safe and change the waterpump at the same time since you are already in there.

70 K on a 4 yr old car some body drove it fairly frequently. seems kinda steep in the milage dept. I have an 03 with just over 31K on it and it is a daily driver. My milage is about 17K to 30K below average but, the one your looking at has almost a whole year of driving added on top of it. Average being 12-15K. All in all it really depends on how it performs when you take it out, after all there are several members on here with 70 plus on their cars, all I am saying is be cautious

I would get the car looked at by a reputable mechanic.

Some things to look for are:

oil leaks.
compression test.
tranny and diff fluid ( just to see if it has been taken care of).
Of course you can't forget carfax just to make sure there wasn't any major accident.

also, if you get a chance, I would try and ge the turbo inlet hose off and get a quick peek at the compressor blades.
