The metal bracket that holds the screen on to the bumper rubs against the intercooler, so I bent it on both ends and put tape all over the bracket. Now, the clips that hold the screen on will not stay, and there is still some rubbing going on.

I have an ARC intercooler. The problem started when I bought the Nisei non-race model. I had to bend the metal brace and mesh a lot just to get the bumper on and it took hours to put it back on. With the new one, I had to unbend and rebend and it still was a ***** to get the bumper back on. It still touches and it took hours and I scratched the thing. Black duct tape is the only protection. Very lame.
Sorry about the hijacking guys.

Guys, the main reason for me asking is that since my car is register in NY and I live in NJ...as far as I know, NJ cannot enforce another state's plate laws. This came from a NYS Trooper. I do drive to NY once in awhile and that is the main concern here. Once in awhile, is it safe to somewhat block my Intercooler for 3 hr-6hr drive using the zip tied method? I searched and know some people have and still is doing it. I'd like them to chime in.

Funny, I just got pulled over last night for this. Went to a my college football game in my home town, did some Christmas shopping and on the way out of town I got pulled over. No ticket just told me to get it taken care of.

FYI NY and NJ "share" DMV information so if you get a ticket in NY and you live in NJ you had better pay it or they'll still suspend your liscence. Also, if you get a speeding ticket in NY they can apply the points in NJ. Sucks, but it's true. I got a ticket in CT last year and it shows up on my NY liscence. 18 months before they take it off your record. When I got my IX MR SE they didn't have the front plate bracket installed at pick-up so I had to have them install it. I got nailed 3-4 times when I had my VIII for no front plate. Not worth the hassle IMO. Front plate bracket isn't THAT ugly.

Only time i ziptie it over it is when im going to show the pigs it for a "fix-it ticket". I've gotten pulled over for it a few times....everytime i simply ziptie it on, to show the pigs, cut off the zip ties after i leave, and deal with it.

In MD I'm the king of warnings... like 17 total, but I finally got my first 75 dollar ticket a couple days ago so i guess its back on the car even though its gay. i bought the car in PA so no front bracket so the bumper mounting screws are now used to hold my "Custom" brackets. two dollar long door hing brackets from home depo bent in the right way work perfect. not to metion to ghetto appeal.
I know it sounds bad but if you see it in person and without the zipties that are currently holding it on, it looks pretty professional, if I dont say so myself.
