Any Fake Cats out there?
Due to my town and surrounding areas being well known for street racing, the local authorities have taken it upon themselves to pull over cars that look modified and do a spot check which is basically looking for cats, improper lowering, yadda yadda yadda. My car is 100% stock at the moment but I would like to modify it eventually with a turbo back. I would like to make a "Fake Cat" to pass the visual which would basically make me much safer to the fines, towing, etc.
Anybody have any pics or the best way to go about this? Thanks

I used a large screwdriver and a medium sized prybar to knock out (or gut) the OE cat. on my old civic ...would work in this application too. cost $0. Time 1 Hr.
Edit: this would probably flow better...

It makes more sense to keep the catalytic converter or get a larger aftermarket unit.. I really don't understand the obscession with the 5-7 hp difference between an aftermarket cat and a straight pipe..

I really want to do this but don't want to hack up my perfectly good cat. I'll need it for SMOG.. and in CALI even if you have a cat, they may still send you to a smog referee... damn -_-.
Wonder if any sites sell cat SHELL's... hmm .

It is noticeable whp across the board, I have removed three cats from three separate cars, all aided in WHP noticeably.

Ok, back on topic.
If you live in an inspection only state - then the cat-cover trick should work. But if you live in a smog state (cali, nj...) Make the cat-cover test pipe, but keep yours for inspection time.
