want to hit high 11's before pulling engine
just wondering. I have my factory turbo on my car and have a stage 5 from buschur racing with 272 ex/in, and racing front mount intercooler. I dont have any injector upgrade yet. IF i get a new turbo will it help my 1/4 mile times? the reason i ask is because i heard if you get a new turbo it spools up slower. plus how much more can i boost? i have only pushed my factory turbo up to 25psi with 103 octane race gas. kind of afraid to go anymore. i dont want to blow my engine up. how much can i boost safeless and on what gas? I have the APR head studs but that and the 272 cams are the only internal motor work i have done. I just want to drop below a 12.5 in the 1/4 mile, kind of hoping ot hit high 11's before i pull the engine out in feburary. I am not worried about wasting money on this engine because what ever i put on or in it will be well used for what it is being dropped into.
All HELP is appreciated

Well honestly, the cheapest way to dip into the 11's is a clutch that can get you into the 1.6 60' range, and the driver mod (learning how drive the car well enough to use the power you already have).
With 25 pounds of boost youshould be able to dip into the 11's, that is of course if your trap speeds are at least 114mph or so.
Give some more information on your time slips, and you will be blown away with the information everyone can give.

um, you should be trapping alot higher then 109 on PUMP gas. I would get your tune looked over.
my car (br stage 3 with fuel pump) trapped 113mph on 93 octane and 118mph on my own 100 octane tune. (my 93 oct tune was a very conservative daily driving tune)

What is you 2step set to? Who tuned your car (what oct is the tune for)? What tires? Tire pressure? Track eleveation?
There is lots to think about in drag racing.
Also you may wish to do a boost leak test - your times are slow for your mods.
With 272s, and a stage V - you could drive that to high 11s with some more practice and time in the car. Remember, the car is the sum of its parts, the driver is what wheels and deals. ((I have stock cams and turbo and FMIC)) So car adv. to you.
25psi and 103 oct gas (unleaded?) should be fine (I run 25 peak on 100 unleaded). I would used unleaded, leaded gases will burn differently. Unless you are tuned spec. for those, then I would just stick to unleaded.
I think you are inline for 11s, you just need the seat time.

Ok here is the answers to all of your questions you posted
1. The run i posted is on 25psi
2. My car has been custom tuned by Al from Dyno flash. He tuned it with his lap top in the car. and he tuned it with 94 octane in the car.
3. I have Avon Tech M550 A/S (all-season tires) that is what i am running at the track currently.
4. tire pressure was/is set at 32 in the front and 29 in the rear
5. Track elevation is 1100 feet
6. I have done a boost leak test numerous times (once a month) no leaks and holds at 27psi, (infact I had Warrtalon do one on my car too and he said it was great)
7. the 103 race gas i use is actually rated at 97octane (forgot to post that) it is Unleaded gas. If i go any higher here in sioux city i would have to buy Leaded.
If you have any more questions or suggestions feel free to post. Also I launch my car as Al from dyno flash showed me. Let the RPMs bounce of the rev limiter, let of the clutch slightly until it barely starts to touch, at the last yellow light release the clutch petal. Dont get me wrong the car is a beast. just looking for 11's before it gets pulled out and put in the other car.
Thanks for your posts and help so far though

I was thinking if I got a delete pipe that eliminated my 3" high flow cat, then i could run Leaded gas. If i ran leaded gas then i could put in 116 octane. and bump it up to 28psi ( the max of the stock turbo)
Does anyone know a good site that has an installation guild for installing the APR ROD bolts? the Bolts that go in the piston rod that holds it to the crankshaft? I did a search but came up with nothing.

Your launch is good, but your power is terrible and is probably knocking badly becuase with all of those mods you should be trapping way higher.
For reference you have a bushcur Stage 5, I have a AMS stage 1. You trap 5 mph lower than me while running racegas with me running pump gas. If that doesn't tell you that something is either mechanically wrong with your car or you have a bad tune, I don't know what will.

Ok
1. i thought it might be the tires so the next time i am going to go i will switch out to the factory tires. OR maybe you can recommend some great traction tires that are also legal on the street. all help is appreciated
2.I have had this arguement with numerous people about my car being weak. With a custom tune i pulled 291 WHP at 6000 feet elevation. so they said it should be closer to 320 WHP in sioux city, ia (1100' elevation) and about 370HP at the engine. I have had numerous people physically look at my car including (Al from dyno flash, Warrtalon, and a High performance shop called Healey Werks here in sioux city). and everyone that has hooked up a computer to the car and drove it said everything is working correctly. No boost leaks, ECU is tuned correctly, no knocking or detonation. The only problem i have had since i put in my 272 IN/EX cams is that my Service engine soon light keeps coming on. I will reset it and then it comes back on about 3 minutes later. with the same code P0300. everytime. ive changed my plugs and wires (with OEM straight from dealer). So i just assumed that it wasnt going away.
