Blitz I-color is a good option too.

+1. I had the profec b on my 8, and was constantly adjusting it when the weather changed. Even when I finally had it dialed in after messing with it forever, it would still fluctuate when it got colder outside.

must say I was cursing the PO who put the profec b spec II on at first. Then I went back and checked his "professional" installation, and found the vac lines to the compressor housing outlet and the WGA were REVERSED!!! ^%#&$#%@^@%@!!!!!!! ANYWAYS... once I figured this out and fixed them, I have felt like I have a new car all over again! Solid, consistent boost that IS easily adjustable once you get the hang of it.

Moral of the story if you are having issues with it, double-check EVERYTHING in the installation and trouble-shoot with the DIY on this site.

I have owned only a few ebc's but between all my friends and i we have agreed on all of the following:

We thought the ORIGINAL Greddy Profec and Profec 2 were just fine. I didn't really like the Spec 2 all that much, it had more festures that although possibly useful, they weren't to us and were just kind of annoying and in the end it didn't achieve any better results than EBC's without them or the original Profecs.

I albsolutely loved my Blitz SBC-DC Spec R. Simple, easy, effective, consistent, safe. Always. We all have been 100% happy with every Blitz model any of us have owned.

The A'pexi AVCR is a an odd one IMO. It's got tons of features but overall has been a bit awkward and harder to tune with than others. Mucho illuminato dial rice bling factor though. Also expensive for what I believe has only one solenoid.

If I was watching my money but still wanted a good EBC I'd get a Blitz or older Profec. Just my opinion though, and for the reconrd that was on 300zx's, SR20DETs, EJs and 2JZ's, and DSMs not Evos. It doesn't matter though, I'm talking about ease of tunability and consistency.

I had the forge MBC and when I first got it, I had alot of issues with temp. changes and boost being very un-consistent. Since I have lubed the ball of the MBC with Hi temp grease and using the Hi boost spring, I have been good thus far, even recently with the temps changing +/- 30 degrees. My forge MBC seemed to "stick" like the ball was getting stuck a times, especially more with the temp changes, and the heating/cooling of the MBC itself. Just thought I would share my experience. Good Luck

I have one I'm not using anymore. I switched to a manual boost controller because it just seemed easier to use. If your interested, I'll sell it cheap. Nothing at all wrong with it.

PM if your interested in it.

You shouldn't be seeing huge fluctuations, even with an MBC. I see a 1-1.5psi fluctuation if at high loads in tall gears.. which isn't realistic driving. I just leave mine where it is and don't worry about it.

The AVC-R is a major PITA to install and set-up. Also, it has lots of features that are not that critical in high-grip (i.e., AWD) applications. However, once you take the time to set it up, it really works like a charm.

I have an AVC-R in my '03 Evo 8 and I love it. I'm not a tweaker. I spent the time to set it up the way I wanted it and now I never touch it. One mode is set for daily driving (20 psi) and one is set up for track driving (18 psi). When someone borrows the car or I need to hand it to a valet, I just switch the boost off. Now that I have all 3 modes dialed in, I never even think about it.
