wow, just wow.
ok i have been trying to figure out whats going on with my power steering and a friend stopped by. I explained to him what was going on. I go in the house to take a phone call. When I return He tells me he topped off my power steering fluid for me. When he had actually poured almost a quarter bottle of power steering fluid into the diff fluid reservoir. I need to know if this is really bad and what to expect. Most importantly what kind of weapon to use on his skull. thanks

yeah dude I wouldn't even start the car in fear it would cuiculate it through the system.
Remove the bottle and drain it... asap.
Working at the dealership for the past 8 years I have seen what happens when fluids go were they don't belong

Do you mean the ACD fluid resivour? I would try to drain that bottle cuz mixing the fluids is def something that u dont wanna do... i think that that particular system needs to be bled

Holy crap Batman....Drain it and refill it immediately.....then make your friend drink the fluid you just drained. I would have ninja kicked him in the face....
But seriously drain it and refill it with the proper fluid

You're SURE that would be ok??? Don't be sure about something that could be disastrous unless you know 100% without a doubt.
BigL, I'd call Mitsu and tell them before driving it. Ask what you should do. The ACD system only holds a quart or so, which means that even if he only did a little, it's probably still a significant %. Also, there should NOT be room for any extra fluid - ACD fluid doesn't disappear. The ACD fluid level only ebbs and flows depending on the operation of the car, so you may now overfilled. The ACD line is connected to the t-case and would have to be disconnected and drained. Mitsu does have a MUT tool they use to bleed the ACD system. Without the tool, you have to have someone underneath doing the bleeding and someone in the car turning it on and off.

Thanks Warrtalon, I was hoping you would respond. I'm going to take your advice and call mitsu first thing monday morning. Do you think i may have already done significant damage to anything since the car has already moved after this disaster ? I read in a previous thread that the fluid can APPEAR to be low at times. I am guessing this is why he added the fluid.
