How do I know if my EVO was properly broken in?

How do I know if my EVO was properly broken in?
I've had my IX for about 6 months, and it is completely stock. It has about 7,500 miles, and it runs beautifully without any problems. I purchased the car new with 600 miles on the odometer. The sales manager assured me that the car wasn't abused. He said that he put the mileage by taking the car to upstate New York to visit relatives.
Are there any indications that would tell me that the car was beat on early in its life? (other than the fact that a car salesman said it wasn't) The only thing that I can think of is maybe that my gas mileage isn't great. I normally average around 19mpg with combined city/highway (could be normal). I don't get much more than 23mpg if I'm only doing highway driving (seems a little low to me after reading numerous fuel consumption threads). Although that could be a matter of how I love boosting in 5th gear.

Why would a sales manager, who has his pick of anything on the lot, take a 0 miles evo on a long trip to visit relatives? He just pegged the BS meter!
Considering the boldface lie, it was definitely abused. Sorry.

...are u kidding me? someone actually used a NEW evo as their demo? are you joking? i've never heard of that happening at all...that would be like using a corvette as your demo. It matters for the evo because it needs to be broken in right, not so much on some 30,000 dollar SUV
i hope he gave you a GOOD price reduction because of the 600 miles on the odometer, atleast 1k under invoice for beating on the car for 600 miles

Hey all,
I'm breaking mine in right now. Got it with 3 miles on the car. When the dealer told me that the car detailing shop was 1 miles away from the lot I told him I will drive it there and back. Check the trip reading before I left and it said 2.4, got back and it was only 2.5, so they just drove it 1/10th of a mile (in the shop, out of the shop). Since then I have put 175 miles on it and still have not hit 4,000 rpm. Also I have not gone over .3 bar on the boost gauge. Now thats the way you break it in...right?
Cant wait till 600 miles (maybe more like 1,000)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i got mine with 1mile cause i went to lower it from the boat
the break-in of the manual said 600miles i took it to 1000miles just to be sure but it still burns oil it depends how i use it the more boost the more oil!
you should check your compression just to be sure and fuel consumption doesnt have anything to do with it being properly breaked-in or not!
i think your fine!

Don't worry about it - and as far as gas mileage, personal experience here is that the car gets a bit over 21-22 in a mix of highway/city. I did manage around 24 running 75-85 average on a long hiway run, with some occasional bursts into triple digits...
