Hey man ill tell you this unless you have a real good job i wouldnt get it untill you get a few more years of driveing under your belt. Why evo is not a car any joe can drive that is why this car has the HIGHEST INSURANCE RATES OF ALL CARS ON THE ROAD IN THE USA because these people that have never really drove a flat out race car think this car works magic it doesnt one drive mistake kiss you evo and god forbid your life away.

Ok lets say you can pay for the car ok nice you get it big deal right. I know your going to want to race the car as well i know you have seen the videos all over the web how evos just eat up pretty much everything with wheels. Plus your going to mod the car as well.
Which means your going to have to spend alot of money to mod it and once you start to mod it you cant stop beleave me i know because ive spent $27,000 so far and im not done yet and my car is still in the shop so that total keeps on going up. Heres my point your young im young most people on here are young evo's will break down and it will cost you time and money to fix it even if your mom and dad have money there not going to fork out money every time it breaks there going to tell you to get something else and there goes your dream. You need to make sure you can deal with everything that comes with owning a evo. If you think your ready for it welcome if not see you a few years from now.

This is from one rican to the next.

Hey whoa... slow down now. Everyone knows that it's a right of passage to trash their first car. Sounds like it would be a good thread.

I've got a kid in his Senior year in high school and I don't even let him touch the EVO. He's got a nice 90 horsepower honda civic. He rides my Yamaha R1 alot though. Luckily my kids aren't into cars.

I wouldn't recommend it. I just don't agree with someone so young driving somethin with that much power. But, if you think you can handle it and be responsible with it, go for it. Just remember, showing off for your friends will be at YOUR expense. YOUR ticket, YOUR fault if you wreck. Your friends will just be like, "Oh **** that sucks, awesome car though." lol

As someone said earlier, its much much MUCH harder to resist peer pressure than you think it'd be--I can guarantee you that you WILL be pressured into driving recklessly a few times, whether they be your good buddies or cousins or whoever. I really don't expect you to drive like a grandma all the time or exercise responsibility, but always remember that a car can be a deadly weapon that can kill the driver (you) and other people in an instant; this is pretty hard to conceive, but when you learn about momentums and such in physics (remember my earlier comment?), you can easily see how much more destruction you can cause going...say 30 mph vs 60 mph. Even knowing all this boring stuff, I still find hard to believe that going 30 mph vs 60 mph is so much different in terms of potential danger, but yeah this is just a random scientific rambling...just ALWAYS REMEMBER TO DRIVE RESPONSIBLY

I'm really starting to doubt your credibility...first you say that everyone's a speed enthusiast and thus trash their cars (no matter what it may be) in their young age, then you become defensive about my comment of how not all 16 yr olds don't speed, and now you say that its RITE OF PASSAGE to drive like an idiot?

I just want to point out that although this is almost impossible to believe, there really are 16 yr olds who do not drive recklessly. Yes, majority of 16 yr olds can't drive for ****, but that shouldn't be a reason to discriminate against ALL 16 yr olds.

No offense, but he's probably 50x more likely to be injured/killed on the bike than in the Evo. (And not because it's an R1, but because other people can't drive safely around bikes)

Sorry but in my universe the word "earned" means doing something outside of what you are expected to do/is in your best interest. As for this "oh they didn't get a car at this age, so they're just jealous", get over it. Yes you drive a nice car, but so what, you didn't earn it, it was just a matter of luck that you got born into a rich family.
And you're presumably lucky not to have born in a third world country to a family so poor they'll never even see a computer let alone use one. If we're on EvoM, we're all lucky in some way.

if you want my opinion on this, because im 17, i would say no.
personally i would much rather wait until i finish college and am able to afford an evo on my own before i buy one, this way i will be able to appreciate the car more. yes i take care of my 120hp lancer and that's what i'll be doing until i settle into a nice job after college. keep your mazda protoge and save your money, you need to live your life as a kid before you go and buy a car only wealthy adults should be able to afford. its terrible that parents want to spoil their kids by buying them 30k cars, i've been constantly working for $7 and hour for my car and it's a pain to fill it up every week because i need money for food/clothes.
now you dont want to be a hungry naked kid living in your moms evo do ya?
at 6.50/hr, not even full time work you wont be able to afford 93 octane and oil changes
anywho its your decision, but im just saying i would rather have an evo and not have to fear losing it.
ohhhh, i'm sure you read a lot of threads where ppl are breaking into cars and stealing stuff, you think you would be able to defend ur car against evo-hatin punks? ur mum wont help u there lol, best wishes

I think you're over analyzing my point. I'll spell it out and make it very clear. 16 yr olds trash cars. Yes - all of them. They are inexperienced and make poor decisions. The real problem is they don't consider themselves inexperienced and they think they're able to do anything behind the wheel.

Case in point - you ever try to tell a 16 yr old he's wrong? They already know everything.

If you still think I'm entirely off base, then I propose a little non-scientific experiment. How about everyone over the age of 25 chime in and let us know if they did stupid things in their cars when they were 16. Or how about this - everyone over the age of 25 let us know if they are a better driver now or when they were 16.

16 driving and EVO, I bet you will be the coolest among your friends... BUT... make sure you can really afford it first, you don't want to ruin your credit rating if anything happens, that will take decade(s) to repair, and the insurance, are you sure only $200/month for a new driver?? I would seriously check the fact on that first

Sorry to burst your bubble, but I just proved you wrong b/c I drove like everyone else even when I was 16 (and my driving habit remains unchanged till this day)--a.k.a. I didn't speed or drive like a dumbass on regular basis. Oh, and most of my cronies also drive similarly to me because we don't really give a crap about speeding or proving our "manliness" by speeding b/c we're too apathetic/indifferent when we're driving and thus could not give a damn about fulfilling the need for speed. AS I pointed out earlier, I clearly stated that not EVERYONE drives like an idiot at age 16 (and I said that non-speeders are in the minority), but why are you so damn adament about believing that EVERY 16 YR OLD DRIVES LIKE THEY STOLE THE CAR? Just b/c you drove like that when you were 16 in your beater car, why are you so blinded in your bias of others by your own actions?

If you want to continue your idiotic rambling/argument, I have nothing more to add b/c your idiocy is simply astounding.

No, I said in earlier post that I'm 20. Sorry to see that your basic reading comprehension is sub-par.

Here is my story. When I was 17, I got myself a MR2 turbo. The car was fast and giving me a lot of fun, but also troubles such as accidents, the hassles after those accidents, gas, insurance, and all those BS. First when I got the car, I "thought" I could be responsible however ended up with totaled the car and almost seriously injured my friend’s brother. After this crap, I finally settled down with a Toyota Rav4 and quit the field. With the Rav4, I continued studying (Used up all my saving plus loan for the tuition). To finish up the story, I found out that I couldn’t really quit the field, so I brought myself IX right after I graduate in June with a nice job. Even with the decent job, I still can feel the pressure for the car’s payment and maintenance.

No offence, but seem like your post is not really looking for an advice instead of looking for some body to agree with your. All the people that posted before me are truth, and those are the advices you want to take
