So...any evoIX issues?

I know the earlier 8s had issues, hows the evoIX doing? Are there any issues with these? Has the drivetrain been strengthened or is it the same as an 05?

Main issue with Evo: the drivers who end up raising our insurance rates
J/k
But you're going to have to wait a bit longer to see any mechanical faults with IX since it hasn't been out for that long unless IX owners can chime in

I have 03 and I did have grinding syncros, but I got it fixed under warranty 2 years ago and my car hasn't given me any other big issues

Tranny sucks or your circle of friends dont know how to drive. I know 5 Evo owners, 6 including myself, ranging from 03-06, not a single tranny issue other than syncos on one 03. I still say abuse is what kills these cars.

Not to be prejudice or anything, but judging from your signature, looks like you and your buddies love to hit the drag strip. Most, if any, tranny horror stories are from abuse. Yes, the car is made for some abuse to a certain extent but some people just over do it.

Only issue so far is an assembly problem where someone broke a fitting going between the acd pump and transfercase. was leaking fluid out a destroyed fitting on to my down pipe. at the time there were no parts in the country and it almost took 3 weeks to get parts. just got it back last wee and have 2600 miles on her, but we will see.

After 6 month, 5k miles on evo, only complaint that I have is rattle coming from passenger seat at certain speed. Other than that, 0 issue.

Just got my IX. I also hear some rattling from the passenger side. Otherwise the car is banging.

my car from day one had a grinding 5th gear.... so i guess that is my fault lol

and yes we do rag on them a little.... but i wouldn't say its any their fault that they go out... theyve all been 5th gear.... on a drag strip none of his are trapping high enough to hit 5th....

if it was 2nd or 3rd gear then i would say yes... my fault.. cause those gears get slammed

i just think mitsu is bull**** knowing its a problem, maybe they would smarten up a bit and consider a different tranny. i've never had a car with tranny problems... i've never ever ever had it cross my mind that there is a possibilty the tranny might fail..

cheers!

haha jkim i have a rattle too, well more a squeaking coming from the driver seat. sounds like one of the brackets underneath is either loose or needs some WD40 or something. the seat is not loose, but if i move side to side or corner hard i can hear it creaking under there, annoys me. other than that, 2K miles, 0 probs, knock on wood.

The passenger a-pillar rattles up against the windshield on bumpy roads, the driver's side seatbelt holder rattles on bumpy roads...um....It raised my insurance, my gas allowance per month, and my debt...um...that's about it.

The engine, tranny, clutch all to this point are solid. Then again, I've only got about 2600 miles on her.

13,000 miles, bought it in Feb, 06'; clutch is pretty much toast, but i am very surprise to see how long it took the abuse for. i drive semi- crazy, for instance i only go fast on small tight open roads with no other cars around me- usually at night.

anyhow, i have no other problems with this car and to be quite honest i can't wait to install and new clutch. now i have a better reason than ever for reflashing my ECU. at least now i know the clutch will take it no prob.

FYI- not once have i ever drag raced the car, meaning i have never revved it up and dropped the clutch.

Just out of curiosity...what are the signs that your clutch is going out? I have a feeling that (with my luck) I may be one of the lucky ones as well...it might take a while because I pretty much granny shift around town (around 3k rpms) and never rev up. I do romp on it getting on the highway from the access road and when I have to pass. I am saving the majority of the abuse for when I start auto x'ing the car.
