Front/Rear weight ratio

Is the front/rear weight ratio that important?

I notice that alot of high dollar cars advertise that they have near 50/50 weight distribution and how the car would handle so much better because of it.

But looking at the Evo it has a 60/40 F/R distribution i belive but the evo is renowned how its handling capabilities. does the Evo's AWD make up for this that much or is weight distribution not as important as its made out to be.

Yes it is important but you can tune the suspension to compensate. The EVO has a decently tuned suspension from the factory and a tight ratio steering that helps handling. Ofcourse the AWD helps too

Actually under hard acceleration the car is supposed to be very close to that 50/50 ratio.

Just my $.02
