Anyways my g/f has a HP and it has been left on for over a year straight. She never turns it off and its still strong. However her last Sony craped out on her pretty fast so im going to stay away from them.

I will use it for logging, AIM, MSN and limewire. So I don't need a huge graphic card or anything.

Anyone ogt any used ones they want rid of?

Try going to a computer store in a strip mall and seeing what they have in terms of older computers. Sometimes these guys will offer a warranty and stuff. You absolutely don't need a new computer because that's going to be WAY overkill.

I'd look for something that sips the energy - Centrino or Pentium M that's a couple years old. Perhaps 1.5 to 2.5 Ghz and 1 Gig of RAM. You will fly through the internet, download as much pr0n & songs as you want & it will log all your favorite engine specs.

I'm actually getting tired of lugging my laptop around when I want to data log, so I've been thinking of looking for a Palm Pilot or something small like that. I just need it to run Windows XP and my Evoscan program.

My Sony took a **** on me too. I've only had it for like 3 months. It's a nice one though, (Yes that's Bruce Lee in my background lol). Have you tried eBay?

We don't have much local. I live in the middle of no where. SO I was going to order online. I wanted to spend no more then $700. If possible I would like to stay around the 500 range. So I don't need a super cheapo ****ty computer. Just want good speeds for browsing the net.

I did try Ebay, however I got 18,000 responses on "laptop" so I only looked at a few pages. Here is what I been looking at. I know they are sold out but atleaste they give me a model number to search for.

My laptop is an IBM Thinkpad. It's over two years old and uses a Pentium M. It's a 1.5 Ghz with a Gig of RAM and it's just as fast on the internet as my 4800 X2 dual core CPU desktop with 2 Gigs of RAM and an insanely fast video card. It does everything my desktop does and I log with it all the time.

Check out ebay:

There are lots and lots of these laptops on ebay.

I think I'm the only person who's had a bad experience with IBM laptops lol.

Any cheap laptop will be fine for logging purposes as long as its stable and reliable.

I use a cheap Toshiba i picked up for school years ago for 400 bucks. I wouldn't worry that much about batter life. If its really an issue just get a power inverter and you can log as much as you want.

My cheap toshiba's batter will last about 1.5 hours with continuous logging without the inverter. Its a lot longer than i normally drive so its not a bother to me.

Yeah, but too bad it weighs like 538976436 lbs, and it's very heavy on the wallet too. $6800. Went all out on it.
