Kind of offtopic? Best Radar Detector?
Best radar detector to put in my evo? Right now im looking at the passport 8500 x50. Is there anything better for the money? Should i spend a bit more and get a Valentine One?

this has been beaten to death...can't really go wrong with either..I've got the V1 and it's payed for itself numerous times...biggest difference between the two is the arrows...also I've used both and the V1 seems to be more accurate

i have a valentine hardwired and the hidden display on my steering console, i previously had a passport x50 as far as the detection goes they are equal cant tell much of a difference between the two, but as far as the behind the car protection and the arrows showing you where its coming from is well worth it

I found myself able to talk my way out of tickets...until I got a radar detector. The cop confided that she'd have let me go, but wrote me up due to the detector. I immediately dropped it to the ground and smashed it to bits with my heel and she let me go.
I've been detectorless ever since. Honestly, I think I get places faster without it. I used to stomp the brakes and drop to the limit at the first chirp, and then hold that for about a mile. Of course, that was without the arrows, and I suspect modern detectors (my last was 17 years ago) give fewer false-positives.
The last reviews I read were a few years ago and they all agreed the Valentine One was tops and well worth the extra dough, but maybe things have changed since then?

I read on radartest.com that the beltronics rx65 was rated over the valentine, so i decided to get it, and it has payed for itself plenty of times. The only thing is that it doesnt have the arrows, but i havent missed it as much. The range on it is unbelievable.

to be honest, i hate the constant beeping of the things when i'm in someone elses cars. heck in houston if you see brake lights you slow down. 75% of the cops i see already have somebody pulled over, the other 25% i see the brake lights long before the overpass they are hiding over. 15yrs no tickets here. AND i have a suzuki hayabusa that sees its share of abuse also. but i know my limitations. cool.
